Is there any going back once you've turned away from God?

Wow, this thing is still alive? I thought it would have died a long time ago. Haven't been around much lately, due to starting back to university and a general indifference towards christian sites.

well, to be truthful, coming to this site, and being here, has made me more convinced than ever that I don't want to be a Christian again. I'm even thinking about going pagan again :) So if this proves your point, or doesn't prove your point, or whatever, good for you.

I just HAD to comment on this:

Have you ever told a lie? It only takes one lie to make a person a liar.
Very well. Following your logic, the converse must be true - if I tell only one truth, I am now a truthful person! :D

Once you are saved you are always saved, have faith...
ok...when you fall away from God of course you can come back. but you have to want to. you cant come back because someone told you, you have to. no its doesnt work that way. you cant go along believing once your are saved your always saved either. that is such a wrong thing to say to someone. you make a choice to fall away from God. God doesnt let you go becaus he doesnt like you anymore or whatever. read my example:
you go to church all the time, you talk the talk by saying "yes i am a christian, yea i 'read' my bible, i dont drink, and all that" but then when you go to scool or whatever you are a totally different person. that is hipocritical and that is a way to distance yourself from God.
God never ever lets you go, you let him go. He promises us 7,487 promises and if we break the covenant we made with by excepting him into our hearts...we are breaking our promise...and loosing Gods trust. not his promises.

I'm not sure I blame her. I've seen RAMPANT idiocy in my short time here, and Christians as a whole tend to be quite willing to condemn people. *shakes head* Kinda sad, really, Jesus said a lot of really insightful things-- it's a shame to see them perverted.

Hi, I'm new here.

I was really moved by the new pastor's faith, so when the associate pastor of the church came to pray with Da, I asked him out in the hall if it were possible for someone who has strayed so badly from the Christian faith to come back. The associate pastor asked about what had happened to make me fade away from the church, so I told him everything. He asked me if I had truly renounced Jesus, and I said yes, at the time I had. He then told me that no, there was no way for me to come back to Christianity, and that I am damned with no hope at all. He gave me several bible verses. He said that since I had turned my back on God, God turned his back on me (2 Chronicles 15:2) and that I am damned because I had turned my back on my first faith (1 Timothy 5:12), and that I had committed the unpardonable sin and there is no hope of forgiveness for me at all (Mark 3:22-30).

So, do you all think he was right? My heart has been really sad since I have been told these words.
That Associate Pastor is a dingbat. The fact that you have remorse and concern for your salvation is proof that you never really renounced Christ at all. If anything you are like the Prodigal son who took his inheritance from his father and moved away to new land and party hardy. When the inheritance was finished he had to find work and was slopping pigs. He was so hungry he started eating the animal's food. He decided that he should go back and see if his father would hire him on to be a worker on his own farm.

The minute that the Father's eyes saw the son coming down the road back home he ran out to greet him.

He threw a party in the son's honor and killed the fattened calf.

Now I completely disagree with the Associate pastor and if I had my say he would be de-frocked for what he told you. If you had completely renounced Christ you wouldn't have any remorse for doing so. You have a lot of remorse.

Jesus wants you home where you belong, but I wouldn't suggest that church that you grew up in. I would suggest a church where the word of God is their first priority. Loving their neighbor is the second. Have you told your parents what he told you? If they truly believe what that Pastor said was truth then I wouldn't join them in this lie.

Please feel free to PM me about this and speak further of the situation. I know that God doesn't feel this way about you and knows that you never really left him completely. I am praying for you and suggest that you pray for yourself.

Do you REALLY want to know? ;)

Let's just say...in general, the longer I am around Christians, the less I want to be one of them.
That's certainly a sad thing to hear. Perhaps you are hanging around the wrong Christians. Are we browbeating you with the word of God? The Gospel is a wonderful story and one I like to share, but sometimes it is used like the law to put people into submission of what they believe is God's will. This then isn't the Gospel, but the Law. Only the law can convict us of our sinful condition and the Gospel has the power of salvation for all who believe.

I am sorry that the Christians you have met have turned you off to the word of God. The only thing they should be doing is sharing the Gospel with you. Yeah you are going to meet some who seem hypocritical and you just have to realize that they too are sinners just like you and they deserve the same punishment for those sins just like you. However, they know Yesh'ua because they are his sheep and he knows them because he is their Shepherd. Be patient with them because God's not finished with them yet.

If they are trying to do more than just share his word with you, just tell them to back off and let the seed grow.

I just think I'm hanging around Christians. Most of my christian interaction lately has been here, and it has not been pleasant. I honestly do not know why I am still hanging around here, to be truthful. I am called evil on a regular basis. So much for the Christian Love you always hear about but never see.

Yeah you are going to meet some who seem hypocritical
SOME? Try most.

Blah blah...I've heard it all before, it isn't doing anything for me this go-round either.

Show me a group of Christians who actually live like Jesus preached...and then I'll critically consider christianity. Of course, I have been searching for such a group for years, and have yet to find any that remotely challenge me.

Most? Most are liars. If you want to talk, send me a PM. I am one Christian who will definately not be unloving to you!
Thanks, but I don't have PMs enabled. I learned my lesson pretty quickly about having PMs...if you have an opinion that goes against Christianity, you're likely to receive hate mail over it through PMs if you have them enabled. Thus, I do not.

I did, but I don't think anything was ever done about it.

I used to have another account, well over a year ago, and had the PMs enabled there. Big mistake. I did report it, nothing was ever done to my knowledge, and I left the site soon after that because I didn't need the stress. Now I'm back and I'm not taking the chances that it will happen again. :)

Honestly, I don't know why I am here anymore. This site makes me more roiled than anything else. :sorry:

That is so sad ... so terrible sad. It sickens me to see anyone pushed to their limit by people who call themselves "christians".

Fragile one, I can assure you that Bizzle is a loving and kind person. And believe me sweetie, I have known the wrath of some people who call themselves "christians".
As Sir Donk said .... I also say..... but will change it to "some" ....
It's a matter of finding the genuine, true, gentle hearted christians in this world. And, they are out there. We only have to find them.
I am having quite a time with some of them where I live too! Enough to turn me off christianity. But, I wouldn't give THEM that satisfaction.
Follow your heart Fragile one. And never hesitate to pm me.
I have seen "christians" on here villify a very beautiful person. One of the lovliest and most happiest souls one could meet. She too has now left.
But, I stay here because I know that there are the wonderful ones just like her still active on the forum. Still here for those who are hurting. Still here to reach out and love the person no matter whether that one is a believer or not.
Please come back? Please come back and meet the nice ones? Please give us a chance?
I have already lost a beautiful girl from here because of this disgraceful behaviour. Often, I send her my love on the wind wherever she may be. I believe you know who I am talking about.
Not all who call themselves "christians' are true christians pet. They are false people who are working, unbeknowns, for Satan.
But there are others, who are truly touched by God. Please give yourself a chance to meet them?
