Is the Earth Flat?

Yeah the model also shows North America being 1/4 the size of South America and Australia being roughly the same size as Europe and Asia combined. It’s ridiculously inaccurate because it’s impossible to make a flat map of the earth that is to scale.

Question:

Is it impossible to make a flat earth map of a sphere, to scale.. OR.. Is it impossible to make a spherical map of a flat round earth?

Check out some examples on the internet of discussions on the actual sizes of Greenland, South America, Africa and others.. based on actual land area in Square Miles.

To quote Mr Skiba from the 2nd link, "I'm sorry, but this is total B.S.! I'm not buying it and listening to the guy selling this crap"
That seems to sum up his argument against anything that disproves the flat earth.
In one place he quotes from a source that states the curvature of the earth on the horizon is not apparent until you reach a very high altitude, then later he posts photo after photo of the horizon from close to sea level as 'proof' that the horizon is flat.
All I can say to that is "duh"
I'm not gaining confidence in his ability to argue anything at the moment, rather it is confirming my original impression from his atmospheric magnification and refraction video.

If you think about it... the circle of light on the earth in the model.. would be daytime. The sun would simply go so far that you would no longer see it.. It's light no longer illuminating your area.. Like holding a flashlight, pointing at the floor and moving around.
It's pretty simple to figure out. But, Rob does have other vids of this model to explain it.

That still doesn’t explain why the source of the light goes beyond the horizon if the “flashlight” stays way up high in the air.

Then it would go out of sight in the sky nor over the horizon. Kind of like when you watch an airplane fly out of sight you see it disappear in the sky not over the horizon.

Flashlight doesn't work anyways.
Go in a dark room
Stand on the opposite end of the room.
Shine the flashlight AWAY from you towards the ground.
Even in your Dark corner, you can see the light without it shining towards you.

Look at the angle of the light you’ve shown here, does that look like a perfect circle like the sun does? No it doesn’t. If the sun is not a sphere you would see the shape change as it goes across the sky because your viewing it from different angles.

Yeah good luck getting that model of a flat earth to work. On a flat map of the earth that is to scale you can’t fly all the way around the world. So that doesn’t work either.

That’s not the sun that’s the moon and we already explained why the moon is partially shown sometimes because the earth is blocking par of the the sunlight which leaves a portion of the moon unlit. The sun on the other hand is always a perfect circle.

You can't even give an accurate distance for the sun even though it is one of the simplest observations you could make. Call up a friend or relative who lives a few hundred miles away and measure the angle of the sun at the same moment, then it is basic trigonometry to determine how far the sun is from each of your locations. It is telling that despite flat earthers existing all over the USA, they have never attempted to do this because it will immediately show the falaehood of their claims.
@JacksBratt and @d taylor, you guys live far enough apart to do this easily. Why don't you prove us all wrong and put this issue to bed once and for all?
Since I would not want you guys revealing your exact locations, if you guys like you can both go to some open space a little distance away from where each of you live and put a 1 meter pole in the ground (using a spirit level to ensure it is vertical) then you can measure the length of the shadow at an agreed time then post your coordinates, time of day and length of shadow so we can all do the calculations and it is all above board. I would be happy to do it with someone in Australia.(not right now as I am in Greece)

well I would say that’s probably because the light is reflecting off of the wall in front of you. If the light didn’t have anything to reflect off of it probably wouldn’t do that. Take a flashlight outside at night and point it into the sky it won’t illuminate the ground.

Nice example of atmospheric refraction, causing the bottom of the sun to appear higher, just like when objects are visible which are normally hidden below the horizon. This refraction is not consistent but depends on the air conditions at the time.

Trying to project the surface of a sphere onto a flat surface (e.g. a map) can only be done by distorting something. It is not possible to be 100% accurate. There are different types of transformations depending on what you want to be accurate, and what you are willing to sacrifice being distorted.

One of the more common projections keeps directions accurate. This will show the UK being north of Ghana, and east of Newfoundland. But countries further from the equator get stretched east/west, making them appear larger (which is wrong).

But why? There's no point. Maps are drawn on flat paper.

Because some map projections result in countries further from the equator being distorted and appearing wider. Most of the land mass is above the equator.

In the model, the sun and moon are not that high. And, they are not that big. They are also the exact same size (check an eclipse) and the moon is debated to give it's own light.

That's in a room... Try it outside and try to find your car keys 10 feet away if the flashlight is one foot from the ground.

This is FE 101... check the model again. You can sail or fly around it all year.
