Personally I like some CCM, but I can only take so much of it. There is a radio station in my area that plays it 24/7. I listen to them at times, but often have to switch the station because the music sounds all the same. There are a few groups/bands that are doing original stuff, but a lot of it is real slow and reminds me of love songs or something, LOL!

The lyrics are okay, but personally I think country music has much more moving lyrics then CCM. Aside from Third Day, Lifehouse, and Smitty, when I'm in the mood to worship, CCM leaves a lot to be desired.

the way i have been brought up is that any music besides Christian is a sin.....i know there will be people to disagree but that is my belief and it will never change. I have never listened to secular music to listen to it....i have heard it on tv passin thru channels and in stores but i've never wanted to listen to it! secular music has an influence on you, some people say it doesn't they just listen to it for the music, thats not true, cuz i've seen it affect peoples lives and they say it doesn't affect them. Just think about it, the secular artist...do they live Christian lives and believe in Jesus? NO do they go to church? NO do they cuss in their music? YES.....Christian artist, do they live Christian lives and believe in Jesus? YES do they go to church? yes do they cuss in their music? NO...i think i've said enuf now:sick:

I mean no offense, but you're a little young to have your beliefs set in stone yet. :) Believing something just because you were brought up that way is a poor reason to believe it. My beliefs have changed quite a bit from the time I lived under my parent's roof until now. I think everyone's beliefs do to an extent.

Just think about it, the secular artist...do they live Christian lives and believe in Jesus? NO do they go to church? NO do they cuss in their music? "Secular" does not mean "profane". The majority of what gets played on mainstream radio does not contain profanity and is just love songs. There are also those in the secular industry who are Christians but for one reason or another do not make music under Christian labels. King's X comes to mind, and I'm almost positive that the Galactic Cowboys are the same. U2 was a Christian band when they first started, although they've kind of drifted away. Bob Dylan had a stint as a Christian artist back in the day as well. The point is, when you condemn all secular music you are condemning lots of genuinely good music. Classical, for example.

Now, I will admit that most of what is played on the radio today is pure garbage. I will also admit that music can be very influential- I have seen friends go off the "deep end", so to speak, with music being the primary cause.

And I think "THe Happy Birthday", and even nursery rhymes would qualify as secular music too...hahaha

you dont really know if a christian artist lives a christian live...you dont how he is when no one is looking....you dont really know if he's putting up just a show...now, i dont mean to judge no artist, but how do you really know?.....

Everybody has a birthday, but everybody doesn't have to do drugs.

I dont know how they live, but i do know that people leavin a Christian concert or listenin to Christian music encourages them to do better things. take for instance....You go to a Christian concert, a crowd of 1000 people, its the time when they give the altar call, 50 people get saved that night, when they leave that place they have an assurance that if they were to die they would go to heaven right? right. now you go to a secular concert....no altar call....no one gettin saved....all it does is encourages teens and adults to drink, do drugs, steal, kill, have sex outsida marriage...all it does it put things in peoples minds where they think it is ok to do things like that. It's sad when you here about a 15 yearold girl that found out she is pregnant. i bet ya she doesn't even care about God. thats sad! but thats how i look @ it.

I do know that not all Christian songs have 'God', 'Jesus', mentioned in every lyric and all that in it, but it does not put u down and tell u to go do bad things. its makes u feel like u are somebody! but all this is just MY opinion......

I'm sorry, but if you believe that all non-Christian music encourages that type of behavior then you have been brainwashed.

"Well, i'm sowwy, but i think that any music that is not meant to worship and magnify GOD is not something good to listen too"

then listening to some Relient K. Philmore, and P.O.D. songs is bad, cuz some of their songs dont magnify God.."Sadie Hawkins Dance", "Let The Horse Be With You", and songs like that, which in my opinon, are just dumb....songs like that are one of the reasons that make some ppl think ccm is a joke...and how about those christian artists that cover secular songs and try to give it a christian meaning...you might have even heard a song and dont even know its a secular cover...

. now you go to a secular concert....no altar call....no one gettin saved....all it does is encourages teens and adults to drink, do drugs, steal, kill, have sex outsida marriage...all it does it put things in peoples minds where they think it is ok to do things like that"

well, i'm yet to see a Radiohead or Coldplay concert where they tell the crowd to "to drink, do drugs, steal, kill, have sex outsida marriage"...you're generilizing, and you know very well not all artists do that what you said...and i think the thread is about the "music", not what the artists do or dont...but about the quality of the music...which is why i listen to lots of secular music, cuz only few christian artists are making the kinda music i like....
