The only Christian radio in this area is strictly talk so consider yourselves FORTUNATE to be hearing any Christian music at all. I've had the use of computer for almost a month and have been listening to Christian radio on-line because my brother just got a job dj ing at a station. (chri fm in Ottawa)
I gotta tell ya, I've been surprised, I expected to be disappointed but it's better than I thought it would be.
It's been tough for me as a new Christian, I"m a HUGE music fan but I see my old habits of glorifying the music of certain artists as really stupid now. I mean, I used to think they were so profound, now I feel they've missed the point completely. Some of my fave artists before were Tori Amos, Dan Bern, Beatles, Wide Mouth Mason, Zeppelin, Depeche Mode et al
I hardly listen to any of them anymore because I feel their lyrics to be a waste of time. Tori's stuff is hard core anti-God and it's too bad 'cuz she's a preacher's daughter and a tremendous talent.
I enjoy the lyrics and the upbeatedness of the ccm but I know what some of you mean by cookie cutter lyrics and music. But you know, the bottom line is, most music out there today is garbage as is. You gotta look long and hard for something worthwhile- but that's true of life in general, eh?
If you don't hear anything you like, why not make something new yourself?

I can't get into CCM that much since most of its music is very annoying. I know its lyrics are christian and uplifting and all, but they're so cliche and sometimes they seem to follow and try to copy whatever is popular on the secular market.
And unfortunely, all the good music being made by some christian artists remains being kept from getting any airplay in all the christian radio stations. I dig some of that radio stuff, some Relient K and some Pillar, but it gets tired very fast.

Well what kind of music do you like. Christian music is a lot of diferent music styles...I have hopped around this industry and am currently into rap and hard rock. This stuff is no joke.

i think rap/metal is a joke, specially when the guy trying to rhyme cant really rap...i've heard both pillar's records, and their best songs were the ones where the dude didnt try to rap, like the last one from their "Above" album...i just cant stomach this whole rap/metal thing, and i still think RATM was the only band that has succesfully pulled it off, mainly because De la Rocha could actually rap!....and besides, there's a big difference between rap and hip-hop, and metal and nu-metal...

Christian music has changed over the past decade, and not necessarily for the better in my opinion. The Christian music industry has become big business, and businesses by their nature are centered around money. As the Bible says, "no man can serve two masters". Sadly it looks like some CCM artists have chosen the money route and are just copying whatever's popular in the mainstream (which itself is stale and boring musically) to make a quick buck. I don't have names to associate with this type of behavior, instead it seems as the industry as a whole is moving in this direction. I don't presume to know the motivations of people making the music.

That is why I don't like most of the top-40 CCM music; it mirrors mainstream trends, none of which I particularly enjoy. Where's the creativity? There are exceptions, of course, but the majority is the same ol' same ol'.

Ya, The singer of Pillar is not a good singer. The point is really rap it is rapcore. (screaming, yelling, rap but heavier) Let me guess the one you liked were Light At My Feet, and Further.

Christian music needs to take new risks and find it's soul again before they return to being the joke of the industry.
A song could be for Christ lyrically, but so poorly done, it's against him because it does nothing to glorify him sounding like garbage!

The problem with a lot of christian music is that the category is quite limited...... There is just so many things you can say about God.

Alot of CCM is a joke, but quite a bit of it is really good. Like third day.

I don't want to hear anything that draws me away from God, to I tend to stick to the CCM Genre
