Iowa Annual Conference BOM declares itself at variance with BoD

The Iowa Annual Conference's BOM has declared that it will not discriminate based on sexual orientation when considering candidates for ministry. It has declared itself to be at variance with the current BoD.

I suppose that this is an indication of what is to come. While there might be a way to avoid a split in the denomination, I tend to doubt it.

They have somewhat misinterpreted the statement. It was a statement that lays out our current policy.

The BOD does not require the BoOM to disqualify people for their sexual orientation. Only if they are "self avowed practicing homosexuals."

Nothing changed. The statement was simply a publishing and clarification of the policy long in effect.
