I don't get this, your country and mine talk about freedom, that includes freedom to believe and worship whoever they like. If muslims build mosques legally and convert loads of people, (as a christian i doubt they will manage because of God's will) thats they're choice as free people, regardless of what anyone thinks or feels about it.

America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It (Hardcover)
by Mark Steyn (Author)
stars-4-5._V47081564_.gif
(303 customer reviews)

Editorial Reviews
Book Description
In this, his first major book, Mark Steyn--probably the most widely read, and wittiest, columnist in the English-speaking world--takes on the great poison of the twenty-first century: the anti-Americanism that fuels both Old Europe and radical Islam. America, Steyn argues, will have to stand alone. The world will be divided between America and the rest; and for our sake America had better win.

From the Inside Flap
It’s the end of the world as we know it…
Someday soon, you might wake up to the call to prayer from a muezzin. Europeans already are.
And liberals will still tell you that "diversity is our strength"—while Talibanic enforcers cruise Greenwich Village burning books and barber shops, the Supreme Court decides sharia law doesn’t violate the "separation of church and state," and the Hollywood Left decides to give up on gay rights in favor of the much safer charms of polygamy.
If you think this can’t happen, you haven’t been paying attention, as the hilarious, provocative, and brilliant Mark Steyn—the most popular conservative columnist in the English-speaking world—shows to devastating effect in this, his first and eagerly awaited new book on American and global politics.
The future, as Steyn shows, belongs to the fecund and the confident. And the Islamists are both, while the West—wedded to a multiculturalism that undercuts its own confidence, a welfare state that nudges it toward sloth and self-indulgence, and a childlessness that consigns it to oblivion—is looking ever more like the ruins of a civilization.
Europe, laments Steyn, is almost certainly a goner. The future, if the West has one, belongs to America alone—with maybe its cousins in brave Australia. But America can survive, prosper, and defend its freedom only if it continues to believe in itself, in the sturdier virtues of self-reliance (not government), in the centrality of family, and in the conviction that our country really is the world’s last best hope.
Steyn argues that, contra the liberal cultural relativists, America should proclaim the obvious: we do have a better government, religion, and culture than our enemies, and we should spread America’s influence around the world—for our own sake as well as theirs. Mark Steyn’s America Alone is laugh-out-loud funny—but it will also change the way you look at the world. It is sure to be the most talked-about book of the year.

Thanks, this sounds like a great read!

Stupid White Men (Paperback)

Stupid White Men, Michael Moore's screed against "Thief-in-Chief" George Bush's power elite, hit No. 1 at Amazon.com within days of publication. Why? It's as fulminating and crammed with infuriating facts as any right-wing bestseller, as irreverent as The Onion, and as noisily entertaining as a wrestling smackdown. Moore offers a more interesting critique of the 2000 election than Ralph Nader's Crashing the Party (he argued with Nader, his old boss, who sacked him), and he's serious when he advocates ousting Bush. But Moore's rage is outrageous, couched in shameless gags and madcap comedy: "Old white men wielding martinis and wearing dickies have occupied our nation's capital.... Launch the SCUD missiles! Bring us the head of Antonin Scalia!... We are no longer [able] to hold free and fair elections. We need U.N. observers, U.N. troops." Moore's ideas range from on-the-money (Arafat should beat Sharon with Gandhi's nonviolent shame tactics) to over-the-top: blacks should put inflatable white dolls in their cars so racist cops will think they're chauffeurs; the ever-more-Republicanesque Democratic Party should be sued for fraud; "no contributions toward advancing our civilization ever came out of the South [except Faulkner, Hellman, and R.J. Reynolds]," because it's too hot to think straight there; Korean dictator Kim Jong-il "has got to broaden himself beyond porn and John Wayne" by watching better movies, like Dude, Where's My Car? (which contains "all you need to know about America"). Whatever your politics, Stupid White Men should make you blow your stack. --Tim Appelo --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

This sounds hilarious!

Dribble? Did you mean drivel?

No. I'm completely aware of the word "drivel". I was more trying to convey an image of the "slow" kid in the corner drooling all over himself. I made a conscience effort not to use drivel because it wouldn't create the image I wanted. That word, drivel, already has a pre-built in image of someone saying something stupid. I wanted an image of someone unconsciously drooling liquid on themselves. However, since the meanings do overlap and drivel does have that built in meaning, I suppose I should've just gone with drivel. But I honestly couldn't care less.

So Islam is on the rise as a world religion and Christians are nervous because thier precious power-base is disapearing.

Nah. Christians just don't want to have somebody telling them to "convert or die" at bayonet-point.

Personally I'd much rather hear the Imam's call to prayer than church bells

You'd rather have your head handed to you after it's been hacked off with a scimitar by an Islamic militant instead of a Christian fundamentalist telling you you're going to hell, too, I suspect?

we should spread America’s influence around the world—for our own sake as well as theirs.

nope, but i'm not saying we should spread our influence around the world and that our culture and everything else is best, i'll be the first to admit my country has done terrible things.

no coutry has the right to spread it's influence in the way that is suggested in that book. I find that whole thing very very disgusting. esspecially as it tries to tie in religion.

Please read: http://www.homelandsecurityus.com/Taylor031907

Your politicians must be told and their phones should be ringing off the hook so they never get any peace!!!

The "peaceful" muslims arn't aware of what their quran says and/or arn't doing anything. Do you know any peaceful muslims stopping the radical ones? If so, I want a very detailed report on how they are stopping them with your list of resources. Presently, they having nothing to show for their efforts.

The U.S. needs to come out of the pipe dream and wake up to reality. I thought 9/11 was reality enough.

---Note: This isn't a "phobia". The correct term for the word phobia is when someone is radically afraid of something and it is diagnosed as a mental illness. This is called self defense folks!! When people use the term islam phobia or whatever phobia they mislabel it and obviously don't know what the word is defined as.

Please, please, go to your dictionary and look up what a word means before you use it - that way you will at least appear educated.

You're obviously not aware of some of the questionable content in your religious text, so get off the Muslims case. I mean I believe fundalmentalist christians if provoked have about the same potential of causing violence than any radical muslim. Just take a nice drive through the southern baptist bible belt territory, what friendly people. I'm done with my little rant for now...

Your obviously not aware of the facts. I have an iranian coworker among my credible sources who converted to christianity. This person has been in the U.S. for 5 years - yes, he is more familiar. In addition, I have known a couple of them who really didn't know what the Quran said and meant well.

There are other credible sources besides this. The point: I have done my research and homework and my personal experiences that verify this.

while I'm at it, here's the word of God:

"The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God."
Leviticus 19:34

you hearing this? Anyone who comes to your country should be treated with love, do you think your first post can be reconciled with this, and just to emphasise it, God gives it an "I am the LORD your God" at the end, you know he means buisness when he says that!

plus the bible says that we are ambassadors of Christ, (2 Corinthians 5:20) we all represent his love and mercy to those around us, charging a whole religion as evil is neither loving nor Christlike, remember Jesus loved the Samaritans too and sent His message to us gentiles, us outsiders. Lets love these people like Jesus did and hope they come to know God, if they don't let them live in peace.
