Is suicide ever in God's will? What about the person who finds himself in a situation where he will die a painful agonizing death(such as disease or imprisonment...); Then would suicide be justified? Just curious.

No, I don't believe suicide is ever in God's will. I can understand someone being in excrutiating pain wanting to end it, but I don't believe that it's in God's will that they do that.
I think one thing we need to remember about suicide is that we don't truly know whether those who commit it go to heaven or not.
However, the way I look at it is, for someone to commit suicide they have to be at a point where they feel there is no other way out. Most of them probably are not thinking rationally at that point. It's so simple for us to say, 'well, they should just pray' or 'they need to remember that God loves them' or that if they really had a real relationship with God, they wouldn't do that.
Thankfully I've never dealt with depression, but to get to that point, they probably feel like there is no hope, and that God doesn't really love them, or even that God isn't there. They aren't thinking rationally, so they aren't going to be thinking about how much God loves them so they can press on.
God is the only one who knows their hearts. Personally, I don't believe that just because someone commits suicide they are automatically condemned to hell.

I have been asking friends and family this question and also trying to do some research on it and get mixed answers.

I ask this because a friend of Mine whom I was very close with in high school committed suicide on Easter Sunday.. If you know of any answers to this please let me know and thanks!

Yes! Christ died for this sin too. He died for "ALL" sins.

Rom 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, (MAN with their false doctrines) shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 11:29.… “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” (God does not take back His gifts)

Salvation was a GIFT from God, lest ANY MAN should boast. Period!

I do not have the definitive answer, either. But my belief is that our God is compassionate and understanding enough to know the heart of each of us, including the one who commits suicide.

Depression is a terrible thing to have and (in true cases of it) there are no easy answers. My son-in-law suffers from it and at times he has become completely debilitated, to the point of total helplessness.

Medication helps but does not always solve such problems.

Does one who commits suicide go to heaven? It is obviously a sin, but as the bible says God is gracious to forgive all our sins. He is also wise enough to know when we are suffering to the point that in our weakness we seek suicide as a relief. In those cases I strongly believe that those people will go to be with Christ.

Doesn't the Bible say that He is gracious to forgive our sins if we repent? When does one repent for the act of committing suicide? Also, doesn't suicide violate the sixth commandment of 'you shall not murder', since you're murdering yourself?

"So suicide is murder."

Agreed.

"Then smoking is murder, as smoking is slow suicide. Driving too fast can be murder, and if you're unlucky and get into a fatal accident you go to hell. (by the way, a salesman tried to pass a vehicle, clipped him, didn't go off the road and didn't lose control, but died when their airbag went off, check out www.worksafebc.com for more info) and passing is murder. Let's add lack of exercise to our list of murder, then we can add laws with how we should clean ourselves before we eat, because cleanliness is next to Godliness."

The one thing your list of extensive examples does not address is the intent of the person commiting those acts. The person who smokes does not necessarily do so to die, the person who drives too fast does not neccessarily do so to die, the person who commits suicide does so with the intent of dying and Jesus always looked to the heart of a person and their desires when convicting people of their sin.

Well I addressed your points in a couple of my posts.
I always hear that if someone commits suicide they will go to hell because they weren't able to repent. So, say you had just lied to someone about something. Just say it was a 'little white lie', but still a lie, which is a sin. On your way home, you get in a wreck and die. You weren't able to repent of that sin. So, do you go to hell? Do you believe that everyone who dies, dies with absolutely no sin at all in their lives? That they have repented of every little sin they committed? If not, then are they destined to hell?
I go back to my other post...probably the main majority of people who commit suicide are NOT thinking rationally. God is the only one who does truly know their hearts and what they are going through at that time.

This is hard.......................

Very hard to know.

I tried to commit suicide by hanging myself. I was in an abusive marraige had been raped twice in the same year and I was completely without outside family or friends. I felt no hope....no way out.........thought God was far far away(but I know different now). I called myself a Christian because I loved Jesus...........but I was not persueing a relationship with Jesus.
Just as I was passing out I saw things reaching out to me...........wet hairy arms. I was so frightened that I stood up and was very scared. I paced crying and then looked at myself in the mirror. What I saw I did not like. My eyes looked evil..........very melivolent(spelling?).I cried out to God with all my heart and kept my bible very close for protection. Then as the days and weeks passed and I read more and more of the bible and prayed...........the Holy Spirit became a big big part of my life.It was as if heaven surrounded me.

If I had known at a young age the truth(because I didn't even know who the Holy Spirit was......I thought the Holy Spirit was an energy source from God at that time. And I didn't know that God abides in us and is never far away........but he is closer to us then even our next breath. And by worshipping Jesus and talking with him in our prayers............and reading the bible and trusting him to do a good thing within us and filling us with his light ...is us abiding in him(probably so much more to this that I will learn)but what it all boils down to in my mind is that we don't know where someone is spiritually and if they know Jesus..............and I think because of my experience that demons have a hand in causing a suicidal person to give up hope.

So much......................and it really isn't our place to judge. Because we really don't know...........

Love

Sorry to say that when I was a Teen, in one of my classes, we had a topic called Suicide. It lasted a full week, they had no choice of doing that because 3 kids in our school had committed suicide in 2 weeks. They showed us some movies about people who tried to commit suicide and they were pronounced clinicaly or technically dead but were able to bring them back to life. Some of them would remember what they saw while they were out and it didn't look good. According to some studies, people who commit suicide are not really welcomed in Heaven because God gave you the gift of life and you have rejected it. I might be wrong, but killing yourself is like telling God that you don't want his gift and that you throw it back at his face...

only God knows the condition of a person's soul.
but...the Bible does say that we will give an account of the things we have done, so if a person kills him/herself they will have to answer to God for it, just like anything else.
it is very sad for a person to get to that point to where they feel that they have to do this, and even worse for anyone left to have to deal with it. when people give useless answers it does not help.
i say they are in the hands of a just God who will do what is right by His Word. whatever happens will be fair. God is not mean.

A prophet asked Yahveh what would happen if someone committed suicide. All Yahveh said was" You will appear before an angry Yahveh!" So in my opinion if he is angry it is for a reason and you will obviously be thrown into hell.

Umm, where do you get this from? Who was this prophet and where is it recorded????
