well, i myself struggle with this. i believe its satan trying to bring you down. and well i think he puts this thought in someones head, becuz they are or will become a strong christian who will in the end help destroy his world of evil and death and ultimatly him. for i don't believe that God would cast you to hell, i can tell you from a personal note: i hear things in my head sometimes and well it just says ''no more pain'' no more heartache'' no more liars'' and it just continues.

fight it.

the more you fight these voices the more they will back off with the power in the name of Jesus Christ you can defeat these horrible thoughts i still battle my thoughts and i think of how much better things could be for my family without me. but alas i still fight for my life, i know there is a pupose for me, i know i am a warrior. i will fight the good fight.:holy:

I have been asking friends and family this question and also trying to do some research on it and get mixed answers.

I ask this because a friend of Mine whom I was very close with in high school committed suicide on Easter Sunday.. If you know of any answers to this please let me know and thanks!

I am sorry for your loss.

My belief on the suicide issue is this: Christ said there is one unforgivable sin--blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Killing ones self is terribly wrong, but it is not blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Christ would not mislead us by saying that there is one unforgivable sin if there were 2, 3, or more.

Christ is truthful. We can trust what He tells us. If your friend accepted Christ as Savior, I have no reason to believe that Christ would not save Him. I also had someone who I loved who ended his own life. I struggled with the same question for years. I have come to believe that just as I trust Christ has saved me by His grace I can trust that He has also saved the one I care about.

The way I see it, If your friend believed, then your friend is in Heaven. If you believe, and commit suicide, and went to hell for it, then God's word is not true. There is nothing in the Bible that says that for everyone except those who commit suicide who believes will go to heaven. Some commit suicide because of Mental Illness. So would that mean that Christ died for everyone except those who have mental illness and commit suicide for it? I believe God's word is true, and no one who commits suicide and believes goes to hell. Jesus died for everyone who believes-no exceptions. Besides, once you believe, God does not see sin in you anymore. You are forgiven all your sins, past, present, future. You are now perfect according to God's word. However there is some denominations who will obscure God's word and worship others than Christ, and interpret the word in different ways to interpret that you go to different Heaven's or purgatory or other such things. Why then did Christ die if this be true?

people that say a true believer would never end their life are being incredibly simplistic.

I am a born again christian, I don't just "believe" I am saved, I know I am. (mainly because its not based on my actions)

I also suffer from depression. Its fairly minor and I would rather be me then medicated, but sometimes when I spiral down, suicide looks pretty good. and as I said my situation is a minor case. If I had to live everyday where I am when I bottom, I don't think I would be here.

If you havn't been through it you just don't understand.

 I apologize for Your loss. That MUST BE VERY HARD to BE without Your friend.

God is Just and Merciful......He Has knowledge of what was said to Him by Your friend......what your friend was going through......Being JUST and MERCIFUL GOD and GOD alone knows what hapened between Him and Your Friend that day.

In the past I would have gotten on here and said definantely anyone who commits suicide would not go to Heaven...BUT God is JUST and MERCIFUL.....Give it over to HIM.

Again I am Empathize with You at Your Loss!!!

Sincerely,
Templedweller:eek:
Blessed believer,
I am so sorry for your loss and send hugs your way.
I agree with Templedweller. I would not recommend anyone reading this to ever consider suicide. I do believe it is sinful, and how can we repent of our sin after we are dead? It is just a chance that should not be taken.
But, there is also a very great chance that having begun the act of suicide and perhaps gone to the point of no return, that the person could have repented and asked God to forgive them. God would immediately forgive and receive the person openly into His arms.
Most people who commit suicide really do not want to die--they want the pain to stop. I know. I've considered suicide in the past but I didn't follow through. I just wanted the pain and nothingness I felt to go away.
Your friend could have asked forgiveness. This is something only God and that person really knows.
Also, if your friend was in a moment of not really knowing what he/she was doing, would God hold that person accountable the same as He would someone who knew the full effect of what he/she was doing? I don't think so.

I say all this to encourage you to leave this in God's hands and trust that He is a just and caring God. He knows what's best. It's best to let go and remember all the good things about your friend.
God bless, and you are in my prayers. I pray that God would comfort your heart and keep you at perfect peace as you think on His goodness to you. God bless.

Comfort in time of pain.

God cares about you and is thinking of you constantly. I Psalm 139:17-18, TLB. "How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can't even count how many times a day your thoughts turn towards me. And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me!"

This is a hard one, and a lot of controversy and I don't know if we'll ever know this side of heaven. Anyway, I've been told all my life that people who commit suicide do not go to heaven, I don't know if I agree. God's love and forgiveness covers all things, and the discrepency comes on if you have to actually ask for that forgiveness for it to cover you. Many people who commit suicide do not have that chance, and that's why some people believe that you will go to hell if you commit suicide. If that were the case though we would all be doomed because there is no way any of us could confess all our sins all the time...I really don't know I guess, just babbling

There is no possible way to make to Heaven if you commit suicide. I feel bad that your friend commited suicide, but there isn;t a possible way that he would be in Heaven right now. Commiting suicide is asign of giving up on life. Plus one of the ten commandments is thou shall not murder. When your friend killed himself, he broke that commandment.

I don't think you really believe this, since that would mean that you yourself are going to hell.

When was the last time you lived up to God's standard perfectly?

Where in the Bible does it say that an unrepented sin sends us to Hell? We all have sins we haven't repented of. We all have rebellion in our hearts. If we had to repent of each and every sin to make it, no one could get to Heaven, and salvation is a cruel taunt. We could spend the rest of our lives confessing the sins of the heart that we committed today alone, then we would have to repent of not reaching out to the lost.

If your friend was saved suicide will not invalidate salvation, and it does not indicate the lack of salvation, just someone who lost sight of who they are in the Lord for a while.

Yes, it's idealistic and unrealistic to think that because we have the Lord we can never despair:
2 Corinthians 1:7-9 (New International Version)
7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort. 8We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. 9Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

Paul despaired of his own life. You want to argue that he wasn't really saved if he could be so down?

This is a question i have asked myself. I had an uncle who did this but he also took the life of his 2 year old son as well.

The thing is he suffered from a mental health problem which made him believe that people were going to take away his son and because of this he did what he did.

My point is, alot of people will condem others without looking at the the reasons behind someones actions; Im not saying what my uncle did was ok or that it wasnt as its not my place to judge, but i do believe Gods love is far stronger than we think and alot of what we think has more to do with what church we belong to than what God thinks.

I myself have the same illness as my uncle and if it wasnt for my love for God and the desire i have to be with him, I feel that i myself would not be here today.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions you feel i can answer for you and may God bless you and your friend.

I use to think they will not be saved, but have changed my mind.

If their heart was with Jesus before this act, then I believe they will be saved because I don't think anyone would go to Hell just because they are not in their right mind at that moment and I believe anyone that kills themselves are not in their right mind.

However - arn't you glad we are not the judge?

who told you that suicide was murder?

Some pastor?

And why did you believe him/her ?

Did you believe him/her because he/she is in some kind of self-exalted position,

dresses nice,

and repeats what other people say?

Everything needs to be tested.

Murder has to do with hate,

yet suicide has to do with hopelessness.

I think that suicide shows lack of faith. No matter how bad things get, you should have enough faith in God to get through it. By committing suicide, I believe it shows a lack of faith in God, thus he will not save you. God gave you a gift, and if you throw it back at him, he's not going to appreciate it!

ok, im sorry, i didn't mean murder (Imy word came out wrong
but one of the commandments are thou shall not kill, meaning someone else or yourself..

and no, nobody told me this, ok, i don't listen to people that are in 'exalted' positions, i do take things into account and think abot the myself..

Suicide is a way out from this world because you can't seem to go on, your hopeless and feel alone, you juts want to get peace from yourself, everyone else!!
I know, ok... the reason i've been confused about this subject and it bothers me so much is because i've attempted suicide 4 or 5 times in my past...

ok, thanx
