Happy Sunday, pro'
If looking like a girl is more important than following the writings of Paul regarding long hair, it would seem that your hair and looks have become an idol to you.
Imagine the testimony you can give when your peers start asking you why you cut hair so short ?
What exactly did Paul say?
1 Cor 11:
13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
Judge in yourself
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
No,
"The natural man is the enemy of God."
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
It is glory to her?
16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
"We have no such custom, neither the churches of God."
You are right, that is 'Paul' talking. He does that occasionally.
Go back to 1 Cor 7:6
But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.
7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I.
9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:
11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
12
But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
Paul goes on for several chapters, (Which it seems are arbitrarily divided.) speaking for himself. That is not to discount his words, it is to differentiate between what he believes makes sense as far as rules for the church at Corinth. There is a lotta good stuff in there Yet he does not claim it to be direct commandment of the Lord. This is why he says,
"We have no such custom, neither the churches of God."
He has rules concerning;
Marriage and sex which I agree with, yet in todays world men are accused of spousal rape.
Chapter 7:4
The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
He has rules for eating meat sacrificed to idols. If it convicts you, don't do it. But, it's all good. He states, I don't do it in front of those weak in faith
Chapter 10:31
Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever yo do, do all to the glory of God.
He has his rules on hair
Again this is not to diminish Paul's words, He himself distinguished between his and Gods. I appreciate that about him.
