The decade-plus-long relationship between Blinken and Hunter made headlines last week after the House Judiciary Committee revealed that former CIA acting director Michael Morell testified in private that Blinken — then a Biden 2020 campaign adviser — “triggered” a letter from 51 ex-intelligence officials that sought to discredit The Post’s reporting on bombshell emails from the first son’s abandoned laptop.

The Post’s initial scoop detailed Hunter’s role on the board of Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma, a position he attained in April 2014 despite no previous industry experience.

Remember it was Blinken who was the instigator of the intelligence people's letter that interfered in the results of the U.S. presidential election.

You need to explain that.

Blinken was the architect of the "hunter Biden laptop story is a Russian op" story. He is the one that rallied "fifty current and former intelligence officials" to sign on to the lie.

Blinken was the architect of the "hunter Biden laptop story is a Russian op" story.
Even if this turns out to be true [and the testimony quoted by both sayitaintso and Valletta below suggests it isn't] the impact of that letter on the election is hard to gauge. It fell with a thud here on the forums at the time it happened with a 3 post thread.

Only in hindsight has this letter become some sort of magic feather for the MAGA crowd to clutch to explain Trump's loss [for those who accept that he lost].

That is such desperate spin - "election interference". It's regular campaigning. Americans are supposed to influence their own elections - it is foreign interference that would be the problem, but the GOP is trying to conflate and confuse the two concepts.

First, the story did have the earmarks of a Russian disinformation campaign (still does, imo). Second, so what?

As far as the "Blinken who was the instigator of the intelligence people's letter that interfered in the results of the U.S. presidential election" from the Mike Morrell / Jim Jordan interview transcript:

"In response to questions posed by Chairman Jordan’s own lawyers, he testified that Mr. Blinken did not “direct, suggest, or insinuate in any way” that he should write a letter about Hunter Biden’s laptop. Nor did Mr. Blinken then a private citizen-try to get at the letter indirectly. Mr. Morell testified that Mr. Blinken did not hint that the Biden campaign “could use some help on this” or suggest that Mr. Morell should “cook up something” that the campaign should use."

This accusation against Blinken is even more desperately pathetic than I had thought.

It's very serious, I think each and every one of those individuals who interfered in our presidential election should be punished. Look at the results, all of the lives ruined and lost through the trafficking of women and children and the fentanyl pouring into our country. The war in the Ukraine and the pullout in Afghanistan.

Americans are allowed to interfere by voicing their opinions. In fact, they are supposed to. You want to punish people for speaking out and helping their chosen candidate win?

Yeah, heavy-handed propaganda.

Damage control will be going full force. From the Wizard of Oz defense (pay no attention to the man behind the curtain) to plausible deniability (no one knows why they met) to the infamous Clinton defense. (It depends on what is means)

IMHO. It exposes hypocrisy across the board

Morell testified:
Q: But, prior to [Secretary Blinken’s] call, you – you did not
have any intent to write this statement?
A: I did not.
Q: Okay. So his call triggered –
A: It did, yes.
Q: – that intent in you?
A: Yes. Absolutely.

So there was no, what's what word, "collusion", and don't you think it kind of odd they didn't publish in your linked letter Morrell's direct answers to questions of did Blinken have anything to do with it?

Interfered? If you think this is interference I would love to hear what you think of what Jan 6th was all about.
