  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The rap and hip-hop community was white people saying because blacks use the n-word they can use the n-word too?

No. Both communities have used the word liberally and earned a profit from doing so. And while I don't sanction its use. It's ridiculous to propose another group is desiring a loophole to do something that the "victim" freely does without shame.

I was watching a UFC fight and they had Snoop Dogg as a commentator. He said some pretty bad stuff that seemed very racist against whites. It never made the news that i know of. No one cried out for justice.
I never watch fights or Snoop Dogg. If your claims are true or not. I don't plan to support Snoop Dogg in anything he does. I defiantly don't plan on voting for him. For congress jobs or anything. Even if he apologizes. But it doesn't surprise me, that Republicans are making racist comments now days. I see it all the time with my conservative Christian family members. Maybe the new thing is everyone to start making racist comment , and not caring.

Snoop isn't a politician. He's a rapper turned marijuana entrepreneur who also has a cooking show with Martha Stewart.

I can't believe that's a sentence that reflects something that is truly going on in our actually-existing world.

I mean, I know it is, but...what on earth is going on? Sometimes people say things like "How am I going to explain to my kid that Donald Trump was president?" or "How am I going to explain to my kid that Bruce Jenner became a lady named Caitlyn when he was like 55 years old?" Nevermind all that, how on earth will anyone explain to the children of the future that the gangster rapper who sang about killing police and doing drugs and was actually put on trial for murder at one point subsequently had a cooking show with a lady who was most famous for making festive holiday meals and household crafts and had a magazine aimed at housewives with tips on how to make centerpieces for Thanksgiving and stuff like that?

"Well, Billy...I just don't know. Maybe some things just can't be figured out."

Wow! The Martha Stewart part. I know he was a rapper. But, I thought he was shot and killed in gang violence or a drive- by a long time ago. I wonder who got shot. I don't listen to rap.

Snoop Dogg is very much alive and wasn't killed in a drive-by. He also isn't racist, fo shizzle.

You're probably thinking about Tupac or Notorious B.I.G. Though many wondered if Tupac was still alive due to his mother's Black Panther ties and continued release of new music.

I don't listen to either but I keep my ear to the ground. ;-)

As for Martha, her company was acquired a few years ago.

It has to do with how news is reported and about racism in general. The OP is news and about racism.

No, one item was about the House of Representatives of the United States and the other was about a has-been celebrity.

One is important news and the other is questionably entertainment.

In other words, you're moving the goalposts.

You said, "No one cried out for justice." The reason nobody cried out about Snoop Dogg's remarks (assuming they're even as bad as you suggest) is because there hasn't been a history of anti-white injustice in this country. His comments aren't the continuation of a larger movement to oppress an entire people group; they're just a dude cracking jokes. If that dynamic changes, then my response will change.

Actually, the real reason is that Snoop Dogg doesn't have a vote that will change anyone's life.

Blacks have held every position of power in american government. Look at it from my perspective, many of them are rich but im poor. They have things i dont have but im not complaining. So how is it that they have a lack of control?

But not Snoop Dogg. The point is, you are just deflecting.

Getting back to the actual topic of the thread:

The House floor erupted Thursday shortly before Congress adjourned for the week when Republican Rep. Jason Smith yelled a potentially racially charged remark across the aisle as Democratic Rep. Tony Cárdenas was at the podium.

“Go back to Puerto Rico!” the Missouri congressman shouted, punctuating a stream of Republican whooping and hollering at the Democratic majority for initially rejecting their request to redo a vote on a continuing resolution to reopen shuttered agencies through Feb. 28.

What about the poster who said this wasnt a racist comment at all but was a reference to law makers who recently went to Puerto Rico?

Yeah, there are plenty of poor white people. But white people haven't experienced systemic oppression that has kept them poor, poorly fed, and poorly educated.
I don't know, many of them do keep voting for the GOP.
