  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1 A “SEE” is the territory of a bishop. It is Old French from the Latin Sede for seat. The HOLY SEE is what RC call the Chair of Peter - the bishopric of Rome.

2 The bishop of Rome was originally termed the Vicar of Peter. Vicar meaning deputy. It is not until the 12th century and the Papacy of Innocent III that the pope takes the title Vicar of Christ rather than Vicar of Peter.

3 The name Roman Catholic was derived during the split of the English or Anglo Catholics from those who remained steadfast with the Roman See.

4 The Eucharist has been CENTRAL to the Christian faith from the dawn of the church. It was the transcendent observance of the faith.

5 It was long taught in the Roman Catholic Church that Protestants were ipso facto ****** by the very fact that they were Protestants. It may not have been OFFICIAL church teaching but it was believed, perpetuated and encouraged. It was taught to my grandparents generation that to walk in the SHADOW of a protestant church (let alone going into one) was to risk damnation - hence the practice of giving the sign of the cross when passing a Protestant church.

6 What is so hard to accept about the assumption of Mary? God assumed others before her who did less. Why would he not assume His own Mother?

I don't feel that the "mass is what makes the world go round"!

Don't get me wrong,I love my mass and the sacraments, but it is just a ceremony or rite,so to speak. I am very active in my mass as a lector and minister of the cup.

But to me,,,,,if you don't have God in your heart and soul, the mass may very well be , just words and religious acts. OK.....one has to have the true love of God in their heart for them to truly experience what the mass and sacraments are about.(just my opinion, dont' want to offend)

I am looking at this as maybe a non-catholic or non-believer in anything might see or feel about mass. They would have no clue, how important and what it means to Catholics.

But, due to illness, I have not been able to get to my daily mass or Sunday mass,,,,,which is very disheartening for me. But just because i have not been well enough to go to mass, "doesn't mean my world has stopped"! I have my prayers in morning and evening, my rosary 3 times a day......I am a Minister of Praise, for my sister parish, so, therefore,,,,,,,,I so miss the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist........but my life is till very full because 'GOD LIVES IN MY HEART AND SOUL"! Not because I have or have not attended mass>

Peace and Love

Lady Grace

Apparently you misunderstood what I was saying. What I meant was that the graces that the mass draws down can far reach outside the walls of the Church because it is Christ that is being offered for the salvation of the world. What you say about not being able to attend mass is my point. The grace you still receive because the masses are still being said. I think the mass is the source of all mercy and grace that God pours down to us all Catholic and non-Catholic.

I noticed there's a lot of Christians who are in particular denominations, yet they aren't fully doctrinally aligned with the denomination.  So I don't Mel's one of them ;)

God bless!
