I take you do believe in witchcraft. If so, then I can see why Harry Potter would be disturbing to you.

And you honestly think witchcraft doesn’t exist today?

If your neighbors were practicing witchcraft and sacrificing chickens to Satan, but were then selling the leftover yummy meaty pieces, would you buy them? Let’s assume they were the tastiest chickens ever. Why or why not?

LOLOL.. No witchcraft isn't real. Its attention seeking nonsense. Children aren't stupid. They know the difference. Did you think the fairy tales were real? How about Pecos Bill or Johnny Appleseed, or Alice in Wonderland or Brer Rabbit? Did you think they were real ?
Sorry, summerville.. But, you are sadly mistaken.

The Reality of Witchcraft - The Wesleyan Church

However, while serving in Africa for over twelve years, I discovered that my missionary friend was right. Witches and mediums are real. They consult with those in the spiritual realm. There are witches in America as well. One African, a new convert to Christianity, shared, “Before accepting Christ I was suffocating under all the demands placed upon me by the village witchdoctor. He caused me to live in constant fear. However, with Christ now guarding my life, I feel so free and protected!”

Cis.jd, I have conversed and debated with you before, many times. You are far too intelligent of a person for me to believe that you do not understand the simple fact that if something is not of the Lord, the bible, Godly or righteous according to the scripture... then it can only be from one other camp.... Satan.

So, if you can show me in the scripture where people waved around wands and chanted little phrases in order to accomplish some supernatural result.... Then, I'll believe you.

Otherwise, I will stick to the idea that this is not even close to being from God... and therefore... it is from Satan.. and is presented like a wolf in sheep's clothing, to the children and youth of this world in order to peek their interest in witchcraft and Satanic practices.

The Global flood and the parting of the Red Sea are epic myths about redemption.. They are morality tales NOT history.
Oh, Summerville... where does one begin?

If the flood is not real, and the Red sea is not real, is Sodom and Gomorrah, Jesus walking on water, feeding over 5000 people with two fish and five buns... with 12 baskets of left over scraps, calming the sea with His words, the sun and moon stopping in the sky, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the furnace, Elijah calling fire from heaven to burn the altar? Are any of these real?

If no.... what is your Christianity based on?

Would you also recommend that Christians stay away from C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia?
Those are actually the same as HP... Only HP is about satanic work and the works of C.S. Lewis is stories of Christ and righteousness.

Have you read them?

What does that have to do with the fact that pointing magic wands and speaking incantations... is satanic...

I think you might perhaps be a little too legalistic in your thinking.

You’re a lot like the weaker brother that Paul addressed in his letter to the Corinthians.

For you, you may need to stay away from Narnia due to your history and weak flesh, but there’s certainly nothing inherently wrong with enjoying and reading the Narnia series.

I would even go so far as to suggest that you could learn a lot from Lewis, who certainly was more mature in his faith than you are at the present time.

Pastor David Meyer's perspective was unique. God had saved him from out of the world of the occult in 1969. He was young then, only 19 years old when God called him, but as a teenager David had already gathered a following with his astrological keenness.

of course, and I’ve read Narnia to my children. We also trick or treat.

And as shocking as this may be, I also love the Lord and have an active, close relationship with Christ.

Those aren’t incompatible.

Well, if it's not of God and in His foundational will and purpose... and it is using "supernatural" events and abilities... it is of Satan..

There is no "third" source of supernatural power... It is either of God.. or the enemy.

Or there is no real magic or any form of supernatural power, it's just superstition.

I agree. Many people use twisted biblical basis for doing evil and un Godly actions... This doesn't change the fact that anything like this... is either of God... or deception and action of the enemy.

All those things done "in God's name" are sins against God and people...
But the point of my entire argument is that satan utilizes christian beliefs in order to defame Christianity. Using Christians to give it an immoral and unintelligent reputation that is more likely to detract non-christians and even reasonable christians from the faith.
He can even make a christian so closed in the Bible that the christian blocks out all knowledge and fact checking and ends up building and voice POV's that are not just absurd but factually wrong.

It's pretty simple to research and investigate things to figure out who the people are serving. It just takes a bit if effort.
But you can't just auto-antagonize someone as serving the devil, the reality is you are not researching or investigating these things because you don't even know what is real and what isn't. You are repeating and showing the same "in the dark" views that the people from Salem.

Just look at the gypsies in the dark ages or in WW2. They where just performers doing magic tricks to gain ends meat to feed their families, yet christians thought they where actually doing real magic. These gypsies and their families where seen as servants of satan and they where hated and killed for it. After looking back, who was really serving satan, was it the gypsies or the bible thumping christians? The reality is, your views and knowledge is nothing different than those christians..

My point was that when you have people doing chants, and pointing wands and making things happen to inanimate objects or other people being affected outside their will or ability... then it is not of God...
None of that is real.

Unless you can show scripture where God had people doing such a thing.. and it was not absolutely apparent that the power was directly from Him...

Why would i need to show that?

I have to disagree with you there. There is nothing rational about the use of magic in Harry Potter, it is chaotic, and it is not symbolic of science, hard rules or experiment.

At first sight a TV or mobile phone might appear to be like magic to a primitive who had never seen one, but the difference is these work according to understood principles of electronics and telecommunications, magic on the other hand has no relation to science whatsoever.

Children love imagination, and linking things that appear to be connected.
If you like mountain walking, 6 miles is a long way, but in a car at 60 mph it is 6 minutes. It is this scale that fanatasy books use, to help us explore, question and dream.

And without dreamers we get no technology or discoveries or advances. So many scientists died before there dreams became true, or discoveries they made were used in a big way. This is why I laugh at materialists and determinists, because they have no clue how the world around them came into being, through the creative imagination of fellow human beings, and because of Gods creative power and love.

Witch craft is real. A poster just gave a lengthy report of the real account...

HP is founded in witchcraft and intices children to investigate and pursue it's attraction.
you mean the "former 1960's Wiccan? the one who ignored the fact that Wicca wasn't a word applied to the region until years after she claims to have been saved from it.
the one who claims words like Azkaban and Ersid are the "names of real demons and devils? when in reality Azkaban was modeled and named after Alcatraz and Ersid is just the word desire spelled backwards

The former witch was a pastor who claimed he was a witch from 13 to 19. He wrote the letter warning about Harry Potter.

Pastor David Meyer's perspective was unique. God had saved him from out of the world of the occult in 1969. He was young then, only 19 years old when God called him, but as a teenager David had already gathered a following with his astrological keenness.
