Aah, that you.

Iron swam because it was demonstrating a miracle? Because iron, of all things, NEVER ever "swims", and this was an extraordinary and memorable event for all time.
Miracles are almost ALWAYS done for a specific purpose. Most of the time we are told, and usually it is obvious. This time we are told. Give the scripture ref., as the REASON is in the passage.

Also, if anyone, who ever chopped wood, knows WHY the Iron swam, and did not just float, you get extra points for figuring that out...

it's here:

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim. ~II Kings 6:6

i've never chopped wood, so i'm not sure why it would swim and not just float....

Still need WHY, and the reason it needed to SWIM was that when an axehead comes off during chopping, it is because it was flung off by force. That force doesn't make it fall straight down, but fling for many yards (meters) sometimes. Could be 20 feet away, easily. (Still need why...)

These were tough times, and the prophets were not in a money-making profession!
II Kings 6
5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
If the man borrowed the axe, it's because he was not able to buy one. If he could not afford to buy one, he certainly could not afford to replace it...

Resume... I took too much time from the game... :) Your turn, Brinny...

... i still don't get why it swam instead of floated?
It swam because it was not lying at the man's feet, but 10 or 20 feet away in "who knows what?" direction. Scary enough to feel around in a swamp floor, etc., but to feel for a SHARP object, and not know "WHERE to feel around for it," or "had it buried itself under something, behind something?"

You can propose the next question for us, Brinny...

Nathaniel. (John 1:46)

The prophet told them to throw meal in the pot because there was death in it. Where is this found, and WHY was there death in the pot?
.

It's found in II Kings 4:38-41

not sure why there was death in the pot, though....
