It is so sad that the same scientists who have discovered global warming-not an easy task- are absolutely helpless to offer solutions. What's up with that? Until solutions are in place, there is no problem. (Problems are defined by response, not rhetoric.)

There is a solution. Its called the Kyoto Agreement, signed by 141 nations. The only problem is, Bush refuses to sign it.

I see two options:

a) Strict laws put into place to stop greenhouse emissions from causing havock, or

b) the population of the world shrinks by leaps and bounds (possibly by bird flu????)

Its things like this that convince me that our Savior needs to make a hasty return and save our pathetic selves.

There are a number of problems with this.

1) You have to ASSUME that global warming is caused by man. The same scientists who keep warning us of global warming were warning of an ice age 30 years ago. By the way, how old is the earth? How many ice ages and warming cycles has the earth experienced with no input from man?

2) Even if man is contributing, there is no evidence that we are contributing to a great extent. If we are, there is no scientific proof that the Kyoto Agreement will even slow global warming, let along stop it.

3) Kyoto is merely a jealous world's attempt to impose a tax on the US for being successful.

By the way, for those of you who like electric bicycles and such because they save so much energy... I thinkg it's great that you are concerned and trying to be responsible but, where do you get your electricity? What resources were used and what pollutants created in the manufacture of your bicycle? Feel free to save as many resources as you want, ride your bicycle as slow as you want, and complain about global warming as much as you want but don't tell me how to live my life when in the greater scheme of things we have absoultely no idea whether or not we are even contributing to any climate changes.

Just my 2 cents.

To mention things getting "hotter" shows you haven't studied global warming... global "warming" could take us into another ice age. But yes; some interpret the Bible as saying that the Earth will be destroyed by fire.

And to think that we'll be here discussing the problem of greenhouse gasses in just a couple of years shows that you haven't studied the Bible. The earth will be destroyed when God says so, not a moment before or after!

Man's solution to a problem defined by man, not God.

BTW, if we are indeed in the Tribulation, when did it start (which treaty) and when is the 7 years ended?

I would say that we are well on the way to a time coming when mens hearts will fail them from the fear of what is coming upon the earth.

Sorry i have trouble seeing this as a big problem. here in Ohio its definatly affecting our weather patterns but I always hated the cold any way, now its warmer here and the warm weather lasts longer, winter is more mild. Global worming inducing the ice age theory doesnt make sense to me.
Guess the jews better hurry up and "rebuild" a temple to measure before the climate changes too much. ;)

Exactly. People try to paint Kyoto as this great initiative that the US doesn't want to sign because we're jerks. The truth is, the reason why so many countries are willing to sign while America is not is because the treaty ends up asking next to nothing from virtually all other nations, like India and Russia, while putting most of the burden on America. Why would we sign something like that? If another treaty was drafted that spread around the responsibility I'm sure America would sign - but we're not going to be shackled to Kyoto in it's present form. That's just crazy.

No, not at all. If anyone else had authored this thread I would have responded with the exact same info, so it’s nothing personal. I don’t like disagreeing with you; I wish we would be unified in our beliefs, eschatological or otherwise. But unfortunately that is not the case.

OK, just got the feeling you just disagreed with me all the time for the sake of argument.;) I like someone to argue with, its more fun.

Acts6:5 said:
But you can’t prove that assertion.

Cant prove what assertion?

Acts6:5 said:
If climate changes are in fact cyclical, then we humans aren’t primarily responsible for the changes we are seeing.
Your choice of words are troublesome. What you probably should be saying is that we arent SOLELY responsible. We are primarily responsible.

Acts6:5 said:
Again, between 1890 and 1941 the world’s climate increased by a greater margin than what we’re experiencing now, and that change had absolutely nothing to do with us.

http://www.ecobridge.org/content/g_evd.htm

According to this graph by the Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research of the UK Meteorological Office, you are mistaken. Can your provide further proof as a counter please?

Acts6:5 said:
I don’t deny we cause problems…I just deny that our actions are so problematic we might not “make it into the next century”.

You deny or dont believe?

Acts6:5 said:
I don’t know, you tell me. I haven’t noticed any ecosystems or species dying recently….without checking the web first, do you know of any that were just killed off?

I havent noticed around me any species dying off either, but that doesnt make it untrue. Please dont tell me you are using that as an argument?

According to ESA, "nearly one-third of native species in the United States are at risk of disappearing." http://www.ucsusa.org/scientific_integrity/restoring/science-in-the-endangered.html
Lots more at this site too I'd encourage you to read.
Ecosystems are drastically changing, and in most cases for the worst. Grass has become established in Antartica for the first time. Its getting so warm there, in fact, that polar bears are having a very tough time getting acclimated to the decline of ice time they get for hunting.
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/6502368/
Talks about species endangerment.

Acts6:5 said:
Guess time will be the judge of that. I have full confidence that the world God created is rugged enough to handle some of the dumb things we do.

I must have missed that verse in the bible. Where again did God say, "I have made this world indestructable by you."?
What if God's plan wasnt to create a Super Earth? What if He created an earth that would be suseptible to the affects of our sinful nature? Then when everything falls apart because of what we've done, He'll come back to recuse us. Seems to fit well with Revelation.

Acts6:5 said:
And I think “our complete neglect of the world” is a pretty broad brush stroke.

I'm a sloppy painter sometimes!;)

Acts6:5 said:
Not hootin’ nor hollerin’ here…just giving my opinion, as are you.

And that much is appreciated.

Acts6:5 said:
The fact is there was a greater climate change a century ago than what we’re currently experiencing. It wasn’t caused by us.

You're going to have to prove this.

Um, there are solutions being offered up. Have you got plugs in your ears? Completely helpless? Maybe against the multinational corporations that dont listen to restriction laws.

Are you kidding me? That's the worst logic I have EVER heard! Ok, my grandmother has cancer (actually true) and there is no solution for this because its a very agressive cancer that has attacked her entire body. Now go tell her that since there is no solution, there really isnt a problem. Wow, simplly wow!

No, you actually dont have to assume. See, we have these people called scientists. They study things about our world. They know what pollutants we are putting into our atmosphere, and know what the result will be. Its called chemistry. Did you ever take it in school? It helps to know about it in order to understand global wamring. Head up!

On the Narrow Road said:

Proof?

On the Narrow Road said:

Well, I'm a YEC, so....

On the Narrow Road said:

NO evidence?

Are you a scientist?

Oh man!!:D Thats a great argument.

Not that I particularily want to defend this side of the argument, but your argument is rather weak, so I will. Comparing the pollutants created in the making of an electric bike to the pollutants created from an automobile is rather ridiculous. Go read up on some emissions studies before you being making up crazy arguments. I'm rather confident that once you do some research you'll notice how bad this argument is. Happy hunting!

There are better ways to reduce heat in the atmosphere. Just like snow and ice reflects heat back into space, we can create huge reflective surfaces very cheaply. Simply by whitewashing our highways during peak heat season we can reflect enormous amounts of heat back into space. Cities, towns, villages, individuals, can create inexpensive reflecting surfaces as well, be they large or small. Just using lighter colored roof shingles would help. A light color could be added to blacktop to reflect heat. This cheap, nonpolitical approach can be done in a season. Everyone could be involved, and the results would be immediate and substantial.

Of course it won't happen. A person would feel like a fool trying to actually change the climate.

Anyway, we humans are stupid....we think we intelligent, yet we destroy our own planet......for what? For money, like always.........

Money causes a LOT of problems in the world...but we don't want to spend money to solve those problems, because we suddenly do not have money....

The USA could do a lot of good envrionmental things in their country, but they rather spend it on war.....

Global warning could be less harmless if we:
  • Stop destroying rainforest and other forests.
  • Stop the huge output of CO2 by car, and industry.
  • Stop polution air, soil and water that contains species that die from polution but normally manage the CO2 - O2 balance.
  • Stop killing all kinds of animals and try to prevent unnatural extinction, so the ecological cycle of life will not fall apart.
  • Only have one car per household and we can only use it when we work at least 3 miles or futher....and use one car with more people in it or use public transportation.
  • Seek harder for alternative energy, like electric cars, water wind and sun energy and so on....AND use it!
I'll bet we all can come up with lots things we can do....

And start doing it yourself first! Do not point your finger at the government, but refuse to change yourself.......

And as a country: Shame on you if you haven't signed the Kyoto agreement! It is not about you, it is about the whole planet and the next generations.

And do not use the bible as an excuse to sit back and do nothing because it it God's doing.... God gave us the change to take care of the world. Let us show God that He made the right decission!
