  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just got glasses yesterday! I am very excited, I have always wanted glasses, and I used to buy fake ones or else pop the lenses out of real ones and wear them to school. Now I am losing my long distance vision, so I need them for real. I guess I shouldn't be happy about that, but I guess it happens to a lot of college students, they spend so much time reading close up that they become nearsighted, apparently that is what has happened to me. So, anyone else have glasses or contacts?

I have glasses, and have had them for 7 years. I'm going for contacts this fall...if possible I would toss my glasses in the trash...I hate them. Only problem is, I can't do without them, because I'm so nearsighted that even things ten feet away are quite blurry. Grrr.

I wear contacts. I got glasses a little more than 9 years ago, and contacts 5 yeras ago. I HATE the things. Mom said that once I become eligable, she willpay for me to get the lasic surgery (she has it and it worked really well). My vision is absolutly rotten! I have 20/800 vision in my left eye and 20/750 in my right (what other people see at 800/750 feet, I don't see till its 20 ft away). For me to see something with out my glasses/contacts, it has to be no more than 6 inches frommy face, it really stinks!

I wear glasses. And I really do love them. I think I look a lot better in glasses then I do without.

When I was little, I used to want to wear glasses so much, I punched out the lenses in my sunglasses and wore them around the house. ^_^

I got glasses when I was 16. (Yes, the driving test forced me into them.) I hated wearing them. Slowly, I came to accept this as a fact of life.

In my second year of college I was able to justify getting contacts because I was involved in fencing. (It's tough to get a mask on when you're wearing glasses.) I actually competed my first year without wearing my glasses. Did pretty well too. :)

Now I wear contacts mostly in the day and glasses at night. If I could afford the laser surgery right now I'd do it. I don't enjoy messing around with the contacts every day but it is a fact of life for me right now.

(Note to anyone who wears contacts: Get the "No-Rub" solution. It saves lots of time cleaning your lenses. It's available in generic brand now so it's cheeper.)

I'm blind as a bat and hate the fact that I can't see without serious help from glasses/contacts...HOWEVER, I LOVE the fact that I can see with my contacts. I wear them all the time, until they start bothering me. I even sleep in them. Okay, so truthfully, I'm bad. They are disposable extended wear lenses. I'm supposed to wear them for a week, take them out, clean them, wear them for another week, then throw them away. JoyfulBeliever's way? Wear them until they start bothering me (up to a few months at times!), take them out, SOAK them in solution, pop the bad boys in the next day and repeat. A bottle of 3-in-1 saline lasts me forever!

And my eye doctor cousin would love to ring my neck! :)

I'm afraid to do the lasik surgery...I'm scared for them to do that to my eyes...I mean, they aren't great as they are, but at least I can see with contacts or my coke bottle glasses. If something were to go wrong with the surgery, I only have 2 eyes!!!! I'm not sure I really want to take that chance! I know people that have had it done and talk so highly of it...it's just one of those things with me that I don't think I would have it done unless I really had no other option.

I hate wearing my glasses. Especially when you go from the cold, air conditioned house, to 95+ degree heat outside...the things fog up so bad, you can't see any better than you could if you weren't wearing them! ^_^

Joy, my mom got the surgery and it did wonders. Her vision was REALLY bad so it regressed and she had to get it fixed again, but it was free. There is a center in Atlanta, called TLC (The Lasic Center) that is REALLY good.

I was supposed to start wearing my glasses when I was 9. Only I hated them and my mom didn't make me wear them. I started wearing them full time when I flunked the eye exam to get my driver's license.

I'm so used to wearing my glasses that I feel naked without them. I tried contacts, but I'm allergic to every solution made to clean them. Believe me, we (the eye dr. & me) tried them all. I'd put those things in and 20 minutes later my eyes looked like I'd been on a 3 week drunk they were so bloodshot!

I wear hard contacts. I had soft contacts for a year, and I thought I'd go crazy! I love my hard contacts though! I can't wait until my eyes stop getting worse so I can look into LASIK surgery. I have a problem though; I tend to rub my eyes (and I mean really dig them) right before I fall asleep and right after I wake up in the morning. I'll have to break myself of that habit before I get the surgery, or I'll really screw my eyes up. In the meantime, thank goodness for contacts, because I look atrocious in glasses!

I've been wearing glasses since I was 7 and contacts since I was 12. I really hate not being able to see and it panics me to take out my contacts and realize my glasses aren't on the shelf where I keep them. For those who wear contacts, I wear -6.75 and -7.5 contacts.

I am going to get lazer surgery at my earliest convenience!!!!

I hate glasses and contacts - I hate being blind! and I look like a dork when I wear glasses - but I can't wear them in the daylight, they give me a migraine so I only look like a dork in my own home and at night. LOL

I forgot about the fogging up thing. I guess I will have to deal with that in a few months here. Luckily, my vision isn't bad enough that I need to wear my glasses all the time. I have been since I got them just because things are clearer. Here's a picture of me with my new glasses.
