  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm near-sighted in one eye and far-sighted in the other and I've worn glasses since second grade which would be longer than I like to remember ago! :) (over 40 years) I've never wanted to wear contacts (don't like the idea of sticking a finger in my eye) but I do know if you back into the house on those cold days your glasses shouldn't steam up. (weird but true)

Cammie, I dig at my eyes really bad at night when I start getting sleepy. They just itch for some reason and I can't help myself. Once I start on one eye, its only a matter of seconds before I start going on the other eye. And all of this with the contacts in. Let's just say, I've become a pro at "search and rescue" when the thing folds up and goes so far up under my top eyelid that you can't even see it anymore!

Joy, my mom got the surgery and it did wonders. Her vision was REALLY bad so it regressed and she had to get it fixed again, but it was free. There is a center in Atlanta, called TLC (The Lasic Center) that is REALLY good.

I have a really dear friend that had it done not too long ago and she swears by it. We have a really good center here in VA as well, and my cousin works there part time and does the surgery. I just have this terrible fear of it! I guess the way I look at it, I don't mind wearing my contacts and as long as that works for me, I will stick with that. When it no longer works, I will look into the surgery. HOpefully that won't be for several years down the road and I'm hoping they will have an even better approach by then! hehe...I'm a big chicken. Can't help it!

I've worn glasses for 33 years - The idea of wearing contacts is neat, but I don't know that I could stand putting my finger in my eye to put them in

In all honesty, it really isn't as bad as you think. The first couple of times are really weird, awkward, but like anything else, it just takes a little getting used to. I don't use a mirror or anything to put mine in, and of course, there are tips and tricks to making them go in easier...my personal one is to put a drop of saline in the lens while it is on your finger before you put it in your eye. It really helps.

Seriously, putting them in and taking them out is really very simple and not nearly as bad as you think it would be! ;)

The DAY I hit 40, my eyesight went to pot. It was almost as if the vision fairy was just waiting for that page on the calender to turn! :(
I stubbornly held out before using my first pair of 'cheater' glasses. Well, the first time I gave in and slipped those puppies on ... whoooaaa, the things I could see! Did you know numbers weren't supposed to be blurry!!

I'm becoming increasingly dependent upon them. I hate it, but hey, I've kept my stunning good looks and my sense of humor, ^_^ I guess I can accept the vision thing.

well glasses, i hated them from the start. to make things worse, my mom thought "red" was a nice color to go along with my face. heh. i never wore them.

i would say i'm glad i had contacts, because i wanted them instead of the glasses. but really, i rather not have to wear either. don't we all? eh...i just hate having to bother with them.
