  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The Bible does not recognise "being gay".

It recognises acts.

Well, quite. And since being gay isn't an act, there shouldn't be a problem with people being gay.

Should there?

The Bible does not give a stuff about whom you are sexually attracted to. I gives a stuff about whom you lust after and whom you engage in sex acts with.

So, you don't have a problem with people actually being gay. Right?

It's not a concept I am interested in.

What matter is whether you are engaging in fornication, shameful lusts, sodomy, etc, or in the promoting of those things as normal and healthy.

So being gay, that is homosexuality, is okay. So gay conversion therapy is unnecessary.

The 'identity' is a contrivance, only the actions matter.

And "gay conversion therapy" is about changing the actions, is it not?

The 'identity' is a contrivance...

Not really. Being gay is just as real as being straight.

...only the actions matter.

Question: why do other people's actions concern you?

And "gay conversion therapy" is about changing the actions, is it not?

AIUI, it's about converting someone from being homosexual to being heterosexual. So, no, it's about changing someone's sexual orientation, not about changing their actions.

That's a strange question. People's actions shape the world we live in.

Is it not about stopping them engaging in certain acts?

I do not know anyone in person or online that has engage in conversion therapy, but I have read some real horror stories that I cannot confirm or refute.

I have friends whose parents sent them to Christian "conversion therapy" torture camps. They were badly mistreated, and have deep emotional scars from the "therapy." One of them hasn't spoken to his parents in 15 years, and likely never will again, because of what they had done to him.

True. I'll rephrase the question, then. Why do other people's actions, which have no impact on you and cause no harm to anyone, concern you? How about just live and let live?

Is it not about stopping them engaging in certain acts?

That's not my understanding of what it attempts to achieve.

Who I have sex with is not one bit your damn business. And what you think of my relationship should have no impact on my rights under the law.

Well, it isn't that is it. There's a whole agenda demanding we treat same-sex acts, including marriages, as healthy and normal when they are not.

There's also the matter of teaching the gospel too, but I'm assuming we both realise that part.

It is if you declare yourself Christian, as I have a responsibility to point Romans 1:24-27 out to you (otherwise I let you continue in sin without speaking of it).

It's not about live and let live, it's about the rainbow flag wants the whole pie, our way or the highway. Fill the streets with obscene parades in your face, march into the innocent public kindergarten classroom and teach LGBT homosexuality, in revised curriculm.

Bermuda 2/9/2018 is the first Nation to repeal same sex marriage, aren't you happy, I am :amen:

I believe homosexuals need to be tolerant and stop discrimination of the conservative religious and their children, that believe same sex marriage is historically wrong and immoral?

What ya think, live and let live?

Well, it isn't that is it. There's a whole agenda demanding we treat same-sex acts, including marriages, as healthy and normal when they are not.

Actually, how you personally treat "same-sex acts" is pretty irrelevant. You can like them. You can hate them. You can engage in them yourself. You can shun them and never come near them in your life. Just so long as you realise that what sexual activities two (or more) consenting adults engage in in the privacy of their own homes is nobody's business but their own. Whether you think those activities are healthy and normal or not is irrelevant.

As for marriages, the only desire is for same-sex relations to receive the same recognition under law that opposite-sex relationships do, i.e. marriage and all that comes with that. Again, it's got nothing to do with you think those marriages are healthy and normal. You're perfectly entitled to your belief that they're not.

There's also the matter of teaching the gospel too, but I'm assuming we both realise that part.

There is, yes.

This is not true. They are also God's business, and if you are identifying as a Christian whilst ignoring what he says you need to be told of your error.

Have you ever been to an LGBT Pride parade? There's nothing obscene about them, in my experience. Just a load of people marching, waving banners, cheering. There's quite a party atmosphere. And whichever city you live in, there's a maximum of one Pride parade a year (there may well be none), so if you don't like it you can relax and be happy the other 364 days of the year.

...march into the innocent public kindergarten classroom and teach LGBT homosexuality, in revised curriculm.

Yes. I've heard of this. All I can say is, as was repeated in the relevant thread, that teaching about LGBT history in an age-appropriate way is not the same as teaching people to be homosexual, despite what some people seem to think. Indeed, teaching people to be homosexual is impossible.

Bermuda 2/9/2018 is the first Nation to repeal same sex marriage, aren't you happy, I am :amen:

I'd say that's Bermuda's decision. It's not one I personally agree with, but it's up to the Bermudan government, and whether or not the Bermudan people agree with the decision, or seek to have it changed now or at some point in the future, remains to be seen.

I believe homosexuals need to be tolerant and stop discrimination of the conservative religious and their children, that believe same sex marriage is historically wrong and immoral?

What ya think, live and let live?

Most homosexuals and LGBT people in general have no particular interest in conservative religious people and their children, except in so far as those people seek to prevent them living a full and happy life and start hectoring them about how their sexual orientation, sexual activities, and/or "lifestyle", is a sin. They are more than happy to leave you alone, and would deeply appreciate it if you would do the same.

So yes - live and let live.
