    A trance is one possibility........
being stoned to the point where he appeared dead..... is another possibility......

    Act 14:19

And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

Since Colton Burpo reports meeting the Danite Judge Samson..... ... John the Baptist... Mary the Mother of Jesus and others.......... we can assume that perhaps there is more to the resurrection of the dead in Christ than merely what Colton was shown........ (did he also meet King David)???

Well, just this last week, I went to fix a broken furnace out in the boondocks quite a bit. Another tech had already been there and ordered in the part at the supply house. I picked up the new parts and went out there, and their new part was bad and wouldn't work. (it happens sometimes). Too bad I was way out in the country because it was supposed to be quick because we was busy and I had quite a few more places to go to yet. SO I made the trip again to the syoply house and gave them back the bad part and got another new one and drove way back out there...and it didn't work either.

So I turned the switch off, and was sitting there losing my sense of humor real quick because this was supposed to be a quick job. I'm sitting in some guys basement in front of his furnace realizing this is going to destroy my day and people get mad if you're late to their appointment. SO I prayed and asked for help from the Lord. I got done praying, and...didn't really expect this sort of a prayer to be answered, lol. I was just frustrated at the situation. About that time the customer walks in to check on me, and says, is it done? and he flicks the switch on...and the thing just purred to life and came on real smooth!

Now I know that part was bad. and then it worked, After I prayed. Actually, for awhile now, I've become accustomed to inviting the Lord to go with me to work (or to other places if I have to venture out into this world, lol.). Furnace parts do not just be bad one second and then be good the next second, it don't work like that. It wasn't parting the red sea type of miracle, but still, people were going to be mad if it wasnt fixed this (second) trip. I would have looked bad, which would have made the company look bad, and an angry customer. When I prayed, I said, Lord please help me and let this work. If it works, then the customer will be happy, I will look good and the company will look good and you (the Lord) will get the glory!

Scripture says, ye have not because ye ask not...so I asked. :)
Praise the Lord He helped me. That was awesome!

Yep. That isn't the first or only time that the Lord has helped me at work either. He helped me last night in fact, lol. I remember one time I was working on my truck and changing a part underneath it. It was awkward and I couldn't bust loose a bolt. I couldn't get a good angle for leverage on it. But I needed to be able to drive it tomorrow, important. The scripture you have not because you ask not popped into my head, so I stopped and just layed there under the truck for a minute and prayed and asked for help. Then I just just reached up and turned it and it came right off. Like it was hand tight or something. It was torqued down tight!

Just like that, boom. At once I knew...it was the Lord. It was the Lord!!
Praise God! He is soo good to me!

I am convinced that these accounts can be a great tool for evangelism. I think that the scriptures are like the Old Wine... but NDE accounts are like the new wine that have the power to inspire people to drink the old wine.

    Luk 5:39

No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

    I totally agree.....
and I am encouraged that a publication like Psychology Today takes this phenomena rather seriously.... enough to debate what this phenomena could really indicate.

You have to wonder since people don't go to Heaven when they die. What possible reason would there be for someone to have an out of body experience of going to Heaven. It's understandable that Paul would since he was an emissary of Jesus Himself sent to reveal a message from God to the world. However, since that time no one has been sent by Jesus out into the world.

I have to admit that I recently heard in a sermon by a gifted Christian that they were shown that Satan does have some of his demons act........ like the loved ones of the person having the NDE...... if....... like in the case of Howard STorm they go away from their Life Review....

I'm not familiar with Howard Storm. However, from what I understand from the Scriptures people don't go to Heaven. Man is physical being that is infused with life from God. When God takes back His breath of life the man dies and there is nothing left to live on. I don't see how anyone can "come back" from the dead to communicate with the living.

But first, having believed, ye have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

    Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ;
    Ephesians 1:4 according as he has chosen us in him before the world's foundation, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love;
Ephesians 1:5 having marked us out beforehand for adoption through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Ephesians 1:6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has taken us into favour in the Beloved:
    Ephesians 1:7 in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of offences, according to the riches of his grace;
Ephesians 1:8 which he has caused to abound towards us in all wisdom and intelligence,

Ephesians 1:9 having made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in himself
Ephesians 1:10 for the administration of the fulness of times; to head up all things in the Christ, the things in the heavens and the things upon the earth; in him,
Ephesians 1:11 in whom we have also obtained an inheritance, being marked out beforehand according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his own will,

Ephesians 1:12 that we should be to the praise of his glory who have pre-trusted in the Christ:
Ephesians 1:13 in whom *ye* also have trusted , having heard the word of the truth, the glad tidings of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, ye have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 1:14 who is the earnest of our inheritance to the redemption of the acquired possession to the praise of his glory
Ephesians 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of him,
Ephesians 1:18 being enlightened in the eyes of your heart, so that ye should know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Ephesians 1:19 and what the surpassing greatness of his power towards us who believe, according to the working of the might of his strength,

    Says who?

Lets look at the definition of the word "witness".-
A witness to a road accident is one who sees it happen and can report the facts.
A witness being quizzed in court is there to report what he saw.

Taking that into account, who are the cloud of witnesses mentioned below?
Hebrews12v1Therefore we also, having such a great cloud of witnesses encompassing us, having laid aside every weight and the sin easily entangling, should run with endurance the race lying before us.

The answer to my question is found in chapter11v4 etc, starting with Abel Enoch Noah Abraham Sarah Isaach Jacob Joseph ............etc etc etc.

These people and many more clearly constitute the cloud of witnesses referred to in chapter12v1.

But we already know that the definition of witnesses are people who watch and see things! So these witnesses obviously cannot be dead people, which clearly means the members of that ancient cloud of witnesses are all still alive.

These ancients are still alive in heaven and watching and witnessing what the saints are doing down here. That is the meaning of Hebrews11 and 12!

Lets be clear, we on earth are not the cloud of witnesses described in Hebrews12v1, those up there are. We are not watching them, they are watching us.

They are alive in heaven watching down on us.
    Unbiblical nonsense.
My wife (from a non Christian family) went to heaven when she was 3 years old. She met Jesus, she saw the heavenly city, and did various things the Lord told her to do.
She could see other people up there.

My wife didn't read a bible till she was 18, and when she read about the heavenly city in Revelation, the description matched what she had already seen.

Not even David has yet ascended to heaven so your story is full of garbage.

John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven

Acts of the Apostles 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens.
: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

If you think you are going to heaven you will miss the boat because heavenly Jerusalem is coming down to earth to rule.

Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.

You've given your interpretation and opinion. Can you give some facts?

A witness can witness stuff while they're alive, not when they're dead

Your interpretation of what Jesus said there is completely flawed, given that scripture shows many had already visited heaven, temporarily or permanently. ie.-

Moses and 70 elders were taken up.
Ex24v9Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10and they saw the God of Israel. Under His feet was a work like a pavement made of sapphire, as clear as the sky itself. 11But God did not lay His hand on the nobles of Israel; they saw Him, and they ate and drank.

Elijah was very obviously taken up.
2Kings2v11As they were going along and talking, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire which separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven.

Paul was taken up. If being taken up bodily was unscriptural, he would never have included it as possible.
2Cor12v2I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of it I do not know, but God knows. 3And I know that this man—whether in the body or out of it I do not know, but God knows— 4was caught up into Paradise.

Paul had previously spoken about going home to be with the Lord
2Corinthians 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

No scripture can be read in isolation, so given that people had already been up to heaven, in Jn3v12, the Greek words show Jesus is effectively saying that nobody is able to ascend to heaven by his own steam -unless the son of man first comes down. ie. pays the price for our redemption.
That's being silly. Peter was quoting a prophetic psalm that David wrote when he was still alive, so its hardly surprising David was not in heaven at that time he wrote it. lol
Great verse, thanks for your help.
If the city comes down as a bride, then that proves the bride of Christ is already there in heaven before it comes down!
