Well, I just proved that this site does not even come up if someone googles for Forum for Christians.

If you google for Christian Forums, then, CF can still be found. However, I think it is going to be pretty confusing for newbies.

This is not good...

If Christians behaved better, Erwin would not have to change CF. I don't think its his fault but us Christians who whines and trying to crowd Erwin to what WE WANT like selfish whiners.

I do not agree.

The man is suppose to be a Doctor and a Lawyer.

I don't think the stress of this forum would make someone in those positions do anything they did not want to do on their own. He knows what he is doing and if he does not then he has had wonderful resources in the original members here to do it right.

He just refuses and to make matters worse he took Christ off the headline. Unbelievable...

Hay, THANKS FOR THE LINKS! I was going to ask people who leave or plan to, to please share the links to where they go!!
I have no problem bailing to fill up another place that I can enjoy.

If anyone finds Christian forums anywhere else, LET ME KNOW PLEASE! (still going to hang here temporarily).
 :help:

I am a member of just about all of those sites and others. I don't go there much. Too sheltered.

Respectfully my friend I don't remember you making the same argument on 777. Actually unless I remember incorrectly you were very in favor of those changes. Those of course came about because of "whining" as well.

Lisa to be fair it is a brand new domain name. It probably wouldn't show up if you looked for it by name.

Stop the HYPERBOLE and stop the self Martyring.

It seems a large fraction of my Christian brothers and sisters just wanted a message board with Christian in the name and a pulpit to whine about how the world is ending and how "real" Christians and principles are disappearing.

If every member acts just as they have in the past NOTHING will have changed. Some of it is good and and some bad but it will remain the same place.

If you really need the word Christ on something then get a bumper sticker. Is that all this place was - a bumper sticker for you?

I think there is a difference between people sheltering themselves and people wanting a simple thing like the forum to be named "christian foums" to reflect what the site was primarily created for.

While I obviously don't have any stock in what happens to exclusively "christian only" area posters, I would be concerned about the community as a whole departing.

This whole thing actually seems kind of eerie.

Good grief, enough with the dramatics. It's a name. It's not like Christians have been barred from posting here or have undue restrictions on them. Stop acting like Erwin is the reincarnation of Pilate.

And for those of you who are wondering, the formerly Christian-Only forums were always at the bottom until a little over a year ago. The web server didn't burst into holy fire then either.

Yes.....I thought they were, but wasn't sure if my memory was at fault.

what i would like to know is why would the owner of this board profess to be Christian, only to make this board secular?

What is the motivation?

I havent seen 1 word answering this very valid question. I've seen a lot of hem-hawing and thats it.

I personally wonder if Erwin IS or ever WAS a christian or part of an intentional undermining of the church

Whats the motivation erwin? Money?

Do you have more atheistic and wiccan supporters than Christian supporters? Whats up?

After watching Christians whining around CF for the past few years, what can Erwin do? Christians whine and he is only one person. Self-governing is the only solution. If Christians didn't whine and actually helped Erwin solve whining issues.

I mean for crying out loud I didn't like or want all the oppression from the old guard -- that could have changed just fine -- but to completely change the entire site so it's not CHRISTIAN FORUMS anymore?
.... THIS SUCKS!!!!

Fall mountains -- just don't fall on me

Officially closing this thread and poll - interesting results, I'll catch up on posts this weekend. I have a fairly reasonable idea as to what I intend to do and will implement the final changes this weekend.

The "final changes", is "no more Christian Forums" --- but a "forum-based social networking".

Please help us to understand --- why would you post a poll, and "leave it up to the community", if you had already decided otherwise?
You said: "I will listen to the members here, and will defer to the final decision."

This is not a belligerant or argumentative post; many of us really want to understand --- why the changes? Why disregard this poll?

Why is the board no longer "Christ centered"?

Hope I can be forgiven for posting in a "closed thread".

Sing on brother. Play on drummer.

Erwin, I was wondering if you could respond to a few questions. Please understand that these are real questions and not rhetorical or combative in nature. I am not sure that I (along with others here) understand the true nature of the Mission of FM:

1. What does "Christian Principles" mean? I mean, is this limited to the commonly toted "judeo-christian" values. What does "Christian" mean here? Is there/are there any theological priniciple(s) guiding this term (to say WHO Jesus is, what is the nature of God, etc and what this means for the world according to FM? Before this was more or less well-outlined by using the Nicene Creed as this standard. What guides that now? Or is this last part a moot point as "Christian Principles" is moreso of a soley virtuous moral nature and not also of a theological nature. In which case I would have to ask what makes nice, loving Muslim people any less Christian than a Catholic or a Lutheran (They believe in Jesus Christ).

2. If the basic ideas of what consititutes a Christian have NOT changed here (ie, Muslims, Jewish people and even Mormons and Jehovah's witnesses are not Christians), which I am not assuming is still true but am stating that this was the view of the former CF domain per Erwin's management and categorizing of forums, how do you hope that this new set up will bring people to Christ? Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that there is only ONE set up for a forum to help bring others to Christ. What confuses me though (and this now ties into my first point) is how our Goal here can be to bring others to Christ when Christ is (seemingly) left completely undefined and so honestly, like never before, the universalists, the Mormons, the JWs, and the Baptists all have the same WORDED goal, but yet, how we define the central part of that goal (Christ) is completely different.

Perhaps I am missing something.

I'm not trying to debate this at all. Of course I have my own opinions and I am not looking to be convince or convince anyone else of anything. I am only looking to understand, period. So, please, anyone, don't debate with me. Feel free to tell me "Hey, you missed this part here" or "Hey, this question of yours is irrelevant because you failed to notice this here..." or whatever. Anything to better inform my questions is welcomed. Ignoring my question is welcome. But most of all, what I am looking for, is an answer from someone here who has official clout (ie, Erwin or anyone who works directly with Erwin in decision making). I trust that if someone here gives an answer pretending to have some official clout, that Erwin will correct that post.

John

From my perspective it seems the whole "uniting all Christians" was impossible.

The Christians here were so bent on grouping people as "true Christians" and not "true Christians".

If this started out as a dream to unite the reality seems to have set in. Christianity can not and never will be united. Not because people don't dream of unity but because Christians clearly are counter productive regarding such a noble endeavor.

I don't think this has anything to do with trying to appeal to these people or those people it was a unattainable dream. And this becomes obvious when reading the posts by Christians.
