The site is still guided by Christian principles. All that have changed are the name and the vision...and the vision hasn't changed drastically.

I don't see why there is such a huge controversy. I don't care if the site is called forums or christianforums.

I think we've got some major complainers here. Whenever a different forum of mine changes it's server/look, and gets rid of all posts, avatars, signatures, post counts, reputation, etc., I deal with it. It's just a forum.

It depends, Christians often persecute Christians simply because of the differences of beliefs and desires. From Erwin position, all "types" of Christians were aiming up on him silly issues.

From my perspective it seems the whole "uniting all Christians" was impossible.

The Christians here were so bent on grouping people as "true Christians" and not "true Christians".

If this started out as a dream to unite the reality seems to have set in. Christianity can not and never will be united. Not because people don't dream of unity but because Christians clearly are counter productive regarding such a noble endeavor.

Such was the error of Erwin in his membership belief agreement.
When you have people claiming the Bible is just a regular book, not inspired by God, THERE'S NO BASIS FOR AGREEMENT; it's a free for all - anyone who claims to BE a Christian is one and posts whatever they want.

Again, wrong definition, EXPECT CHAOS! Your belief guidelines will govern who your "Christian" members are.
If hardcore liberalism didn't like it, then THEY would have left and most problems would have left with them!

Instead, Erwin tried to force sheep & wolves to unite together as one big happy FAMILY OF GOD.

Do you have ONE SHRED of evidence that this statement is true. It wasn't Atheists that initiated the last round of reforms, and it certainly wasn't us that initiated the call to take away the name. That call began in the Conservative Christian forum here on this site. It was Christians pressing for the name change, not unbelievers. If you don't believe me, go read the polls.

Folks need to stop blaming us every time something happens around here that you don't like. People who make claims like this have no idea what we want, not the least of reasons being that you so rarely check to see what we have to say about anything. We're just boogie-men for your stories.

I agree with you. It's time christians stopped complaining about athiests being happy with the changes. I've only seen one athiest who really complained and I believe it was a sock puppet. I think you guys have been very cool about the whole thing.

NAMELY the fact that at least there was one place PURPORTING and TRYING to be "uniting all Christians into one body". I've SEEN some of the other "Christian" forum sites, chat sites, etc. out there and NO THANKS. They are run by hyper-conservative control freaks who flip out over every least little thing you do. If you post a single word in one post in a foreign language they FREAK OUT at you and start insinuating all kinds of nasty things. Heaven forbid you don't think exactly like them cuz then it's open season. "Fellowship" under THOSE conditions? NO THANKS. It's a never ending flame-and-bully fest where the flamers and bullies reign supreme and no one is even allowed to question what they do.

HERE we had an atmosphere where leadership was permitted to be challenged and scrutinized -- and it produced a pretty good crop of leaders overall if you ask me. These people grew into being more objective and more compassionate. Issues were resolved many times on the basis of REALITY rather than "dead letters of the rules".

There is/was no other place like it proclaiming itself CHRISTIAN.
Now CHRISTIAN has been thrown back to those horrible self-righteous pharisees out there who run those other horrible places where you can't be anything but a clone of them or you get stomped to pieces and then banned.
