Foru.ms - a new beginning and a fresh start

CF was never a church.
CF was never a ministry
CF was about the members (in theory anyway.)

You can still meet (electronically) with your church friends.
You can still minister.

Most of all - it is still about the people.


Lighten up people - embrace it for a while and see if it has really changed. If you don't like it after a trial then make your own decisions - but don't knee jerk like sheep based on 5 minutes under a new name - I hope you can do better than that.

Yes, He sat with sinners...as this forum has allowed all of us to do since WE'RE ALL SINNERS. But, correct me if I'm wrong here - didn't He also kick over tables and yell at money-changers to get out of His Father's temple?

This is not a church my dear! This is a web site for varying Christians to congregate. No matter their denomination, no matter their stage in their walk. But this site continually acted as if it were the seducers and Pharisees, Erwin wanted no part of it. I don't blame him, nor do I wish to sit on that side of the table. If that is the type of Christian site you want, I don't think Erwin is in agreement. I certainly don't. There are plenty of those

Honestly, i've yet to see a single post by any atheist anywhere here at f.m that could slightly be characterized as 'salivating', 'glee' or any of the myriad nefarious intentions that are being ascribed to us. I have seen a good number say they don't care for it, though.

I don't "embrace" everything automatically. and this place DID have a commonality in at least the Nicene Creed for the Christian sections.
There was at least some general agreement as to "christianity", this new format basically wipes that right out to being anything anyone defines it is.

I am lightened up, but CF/Erwin IMO took the LOW ROAD as far as protection OF CHRISTIANS and their faith. He could have just changed the Christian member definition - PROBLEM SOLVED.
We're now wide open to all skeptic attack from everyone, everywhere! (and if you're one who redefines what Christianity is, then I can bet you would be happy with this new change; many WILL like it up front.

I am giving it time, but I do see some alarming negative changes and I base that on coming out of an open Christian-based chat forum where the non Christians pushed the Christians right out and they left due to continually contending against their faith & beliefs.

Does your faith need protecting? As I mostly post in the previously open forums even before deconversion, I don't get the attitude of those wanting to be cloistered in Christian communes, and relegate unbelievers to the basement.

This truly breaks my heart. My husband and I came to this forum with high expectations and have met some great people. As I said before (when this was all being talked about as "maybe happening in the future"), this is just the start before it becomes a fully secular forum.

They took prayer out of the public schools - and look where that got us today.

This is why my husband and I withdrew our CF site support.

I'm not site supporting either - mine was due and I was going to start supporting this very weekend!

It looks like it HAS started to go secular... when it had a directly CHRISTIAN name using Christ, then that gets removed to a GENERIC NAME, IT'S GOING BACKWARDS, AND AWAY from being Christ centered as it was.

It is a step AWAY from where it was. And I agree, it looks like the START of going purely secular.

Without a defined "Christian section", where Christians are protected from the outside onslaught of skeptic and liberal attacks on the faith, and our worldview, it's Open Season on us.
The Hunters just got their hunting licenses.

I'll hang out awhile & then bail if it gets where my whole time here is defending Christianity and why I am one.

ok, this has really came as a surprise. I spend most of my time in apologetics so my feelings have nothing to do with wanting to be separate.

but the name change? it is as though Christ was x out.

no more Christian Forums... now just Forums. its all about the many yous that come here.. and no longer about him.

I think its time for me to say my goodbyes, roll up my mat, and head on down the road. its been interesting, fun and very educational being here with all of you, maybe we will meet again.

Option 3 stunk. If I wanted to be split away from the Christians here, I'd have left long ago.

Option three opened up many possible ideas for this place. The most important of all still having a "Christian Forums". Now we have a socialist republic or something crazy like that.

Maybe we should have sites just for Christians (which there are many) without including unbelievers. This site can be used as part of the "Great Commission" rather than getting out what what we desire.

I went looking specifically for a christian forum on the net and the first one I looked at was CF, lo and behold there before my eyes was the now called 'faith' section. If I hadn't seen those I wouldn't have gone any further, I'd have gone on looking for a christian forum. And I'm sure there are many people out there the same. The name change DOES mean something.

Yes, I will stay now that I'm here because I'm so at home with the PEOPLE on the board. Very sad with the name change though..

Maybe he will tweak that. I also wished we would have kept the name; however, I think these posts are rather selfish and harsh towards a man who I have watched work ever so hard to make everyone happy for a very long time. I too came here to escape other more legalistic (read: hypocritical and mean) places of Christian fellowship. I did not want to be a part of that. CF started to look as if it was heading in that direction. Who knows Erwin just might give back the name to the Christian side of things, I really have no idea what is in store.

Well, it's Erwin's site, I'm glad I didn't just sign up to be a site supporter the other day like I was going to becuz I'd be FUMING right now.

I'll try it out, but I have little hope for the future here.

I've not read a single post by an atheist salivating over the name change. Christians pushed for the name change because they didn't like the changes of 7/7/07 for many reasons.

I agree. God's providence is always that we shouldn't be surprised to find this a mysterious paradox of what happens around the world for His purpose.

Sorry Christ was forgotten on 777 at least as far as this site is concerned. I appreciate that Erwin listened to reason and realized that this was no longer a distinctively Christian site and removed the name of my Savior.
