If someone commits a sin and they know it is a sin, and asks for forgiveness but then does it again, knowing it is wrong then what happens?

It would constitute a lack of repentance and a continuance in sin contrary to the command of Christ to "go and sin no more." It would mean the person is lying to God in confessing he is sorry for his sins. He is really neither sorry nor does he turn from his sin. He lives in a state of willful rebellion and the verses below would suggest that man would be eternally lost.

Hebrews 10:26-27 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

There remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. Should a man do this, there is no sacrifice for sins which could save him. He would have rejected deliberately the only atonement made for sin, and there will be no other made. It is as if a man should reject the only medicine that could heal him, or push away the only boat that could save him when shipwrecked. See Cmt. on Heb 6:6. The sacrifice made for sin by the Redeemer is never to be repeated, and if that is deliberately rejected, the soul must be lost.

For when we - Any of us Christians. Sin wilfully - By total apostasy from God, termed "drawing back," ver. 38. After having received the experimental knowledge of the gospel truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins - None but that which we obstinately reject. (Wesley)

Forgiveness is REALLY hard to do. Remember when Jesus asked, "Which is more difficult, to heal disease or forgive sin?" (Mk. 2:9). ? If its hard to forgive, then it is hard to love another because LOVE forgives. Love hopes all things (1 Corinth 13). Love refuses to take human failure as final. With Christ in me, my human failures are never final. Love never keeps a record of wrongs. Love forgives and love is unable to think about them anymore. Forget the past and move on. Focus on the future as I focus on Christ at the same time. Romans 4:8 (also Psalms 32:2) "Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him".

There have been people looking for any scriptures that says we CAN unforgive people. We are to forgive even when a person is unwilling to repent. Relationship restoration requires repentance to God FIRST and come to the offending person for the restoration. Forgiveness have already completed, now the both parties are to focus on restoration. It takes same two people to restore a relationship of two people. Not one. Just as God forgave us. But in order to restore our relationship with God from eternal death, we are to repent and acknowledge God and Jesus so that we can have eternal life. God ALREADY FORGAVE..... now He is WAITING for those to REPENT so that the relationship can be RESTORED between two people. God and the Believer. If one is unwilling to repent is the same person who refused to acknowledge and decided to be bitter against a person.

It is the friction created by inward maladjustment. Our Lord had this in mind when He spoke of the value of the "single eye," and James referred to the same thing when he told of the wavering man of double mind who was unstable in all his ways. While the heart is at cross-purposes with itself, there can be no inward harmony, only discord and carnal heat that slowly wear out the life. One source of friction is resentfulness. The flesh warreth against the spirit: that is, it seeks to stop the motions of the growing heart and bring it to a standstill. Or, failing that, it will put as much pressure as possible on the life and slow its progress as much as it can. The sad thing is that so many of us seem willing to let things go on that way. We "grovel here below," creeping forward painfully and at a snail's pace, when we might be racing unhindered toward the prize. Let's check up on ourselves. Possibly we may need to take the brakes off.

We continue throughout our lives with this struggle as a result of original sin. Sometimes we may fail in this struggle as a result of our weakness, but let us thank God for His Infinite Mercy and Love. If we should fall, God is always there to pick us up and set us on our way. His Mercy endures forever...

We continue throughout our lives with this struggle as a result of original sin. Sometimes we may fail in this struggle as a result of our weakness, but let us thank God for His Infinite Mercy and Love. If we should fall, God is always there to pick us up and set us on our way. Sin!
Remember that Paul said that sin got it's power from the law?! Read Romans 7:14-25.
When I first came to the Lord and saw that He had laid down His life to save a wretch like me, I loved Him so much. Oh how badly now I wanted to live for Him!!!...

"BUT"I couldn't, try, and try though I might!

In fact, the harder "I" tried the worse it got, until I saw that it wasn't just "me" anymore who could not obey Him but it was the SIN in me (my sinful condition = the old man) that welled up and stopped me from doing what I wanted to do with all my heart.

Afterwards I came to find out WHY "I" could not obey His precious commands and keep them! It was because "I" was trying to do it in the power of my own strength.

It was then that I (with God's help) realized all too well that "I" needed to be put to death.
As long as "I" lived I found it impossible to abide in God's words.
It wasn't until "CHRIST ALONE" became everything to me that "I" died and "HE" lived!!!

Again, in Galatians Paul says it nicely in this way -

Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

and in Romans he says it like this -

Romans 6:6-7 "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin."

Well you're talking to Mr. Free right now!

The moral of the story?
"I" must die so that "CHRIST" can live!
"Until one comes FULLY to Christ, there is no hope!"

If a man sins 70 times 7 you still forgive. It's not your problem what the heart of the other person is like...it is your problem if you DON'T forgive that person anyway. If you don't forgive others you can't get forgiveness yourself.

forgive occurs 56 times in 48 verses
