We live in the greatest mission field in the world... Miami, FL and only a few minutes from all the sex, nudity, club dancing, cocain and idolatry a man or woman would ever want!
Sounds almost like what most newbies in the Tampa area think of when Ybor city is mentioned. I have on occasion gone with some friends to a coffee house in Ybor where we will have a Christian band play and go out and witness to people who are out there to go to the clubs.

As you all can tell I am also from Florida. I am in the Tampa area Holiday to be exact, don't know how long I will be here though (Have applied for a job in Louisiana, and various places around Florida).

I just moved down to the Clearwater/St Pete area and am looking for a church of Christ that is 'alive' and am having trouble finding that church. Any person have an idea of a church worth looking at?
Thank you,
Gunner
Depending on where in Pinellas County you are located there is First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks which is fairly centrally located in the county, I know it is not a church of Christ, but the church is alive they sponsor a non-denominational Bible study on Monday nights called 727 it starts around 7:30 and is located in the little building off to the east of the property (Smiley's Coffee House) it is the same building as their thrift store. Also on Friday nights Smiley's has a local Christian Band and Comedy group at 8:00. If you are actually in the Northern Pinellas area you might want to try Calvery Chapel Worship Center located in Southern Pasco county (New Port Richey) Turn right down Trouble Creek when heading N on 19 (SAMS Club on the Corner) go past 3 traffic lights and the church entrance will be on the left (first left after the road becomes divided). There is also Countryside Christian center located on McMullen Booth Road just south of Sunset Point Rd. If you also want some good radio stations to listen to try 90.5 Spirit FM and 91.5 Joy FM.

It caused some damage in my apartment complex. It ripped the roof of off some garages and messed some cars up and there's trees everywhere. Amazingly, the ducks in the lake survived!
Glad to know that you are ok. If there is anything that is needed to help supply a shelter or a family that needs help in your area please do not hesitate to ask. I know that if we were in need your church and community would be at ready to assist.

Thanks for your kind offer, and yes, we'd certainly reciprocate! Everybody I know personally here (which is admittedly few people as I've only lived in Florida about 3 weeks) is okay. One coworker of my wife lost power at her place, so we housed her until she got it back. Otherwise, everyone I know of personally came out okay.

Some people from my old church in another state held a prayer vigil on Friday to protect us from the storm, and God heard their prayers!

Praise to the name that is above all names and may the name of our Lord Jesus Christ ever be praised.

RadG,
Tank you for the suggestion. I live about 5 minutes from the First Baptist church and plan to visit them tomorrow.

So did you go to First Baptist of Indian Rocks? How did you like it did you go to the 9:00 service so that you would of been able to go to the College and Career / Young Adult class at 11:00? Did you also try 727 last night?

I went to the 11 service. But one of the pastors also suggested I go to the 9 am service so I can attened the young adult class at 11. No I did not go to 727. That church is the most active I have ever seen, they have everything from a clinic to a coffee shop, very neat. I look forward to attending this place until I get a good taste for it. When I got to church on Sunday I had to walk out of the building and ask for help finding the worship because the complex is so huge!
Thanks for suggesting the place.

I live in Miami, FL. the sunshine state. Honestly, I can't wait to get out of Miami. I'd take the first one way ticket out of here. I've been here since I was a year old and I'm 25 yrs. old. It's definitely the Sin City, I know because I've been to so many of the clubs here. I'm over that now and Miami just doesn't offer the kind of life style I'm looking for, but it's not easy to just pick up and go.

wow. . .sounds like you really need to get outside of the box and see the REAL Florida! There is sooooo much more to Florida than Miami!!!
Where do you think you might LIKE to live? I've lived in four other states and can honestly say ~*clicking ruby heels together~*~ "there's no place like home" Where ever you go - there is sin all around. Some places it's more hidden and others are more open & blatant about it. Thanking God we can choose our attitude and work to leave it or work to eradicate it.
Having lived in a city - N'Awlins - though, I can certainly understand how you could get a bad taste.

Number one place to live for me is west of Ashville, NC. Its cool during the summer and cold during the winter. Problem is, I have family down here and they wouldn't like it if I moved. Maybe I can get a job transfer after I'm done with college.
