  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You obviously have no conception of what spiritual death means, what fellowship with God through ongoing confession and repentance means , and the difference between living in the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Satan is.
Actually we do believe the entire gospel. We do not – as you do – link every reference to separation from God and failure to take the Kingdom of God by force as equating to loss of our salvation.
Actually the majority do believe in the entire gospel. I..e we believe in the entire gospel - from the translation from the being vessels of wrath to children of God whom God has predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son through sanctification by the Holy Spirit who will never leave or forsake us.
No kidding? Tell us something we don’t know.

You obviously have no conception of Christ's ministry after Calvary.

Repent of your gospel according to works and accept Jesus Christ and His accomplishments at Calvary as your only hope of salvation and you will receive the Holy Spirit of God who will give you the required insight to have a cohesive theology concerning salvation.

Does that mean that absolutely everyone other than Noah's family went to Hell? That would have to mean that infants burn in hell....absurd

Yes they were physically destroyed by the flood but what can be said of their eternal destiny?

It's not all that absurd about infants if Genesis 6 is actually speaking of fallen angels mating with human women and having hybrids. No demonic children will be in heaven. I think this is also why God told the Israelites to kill whole nations, including women and children. Why not tell them to save the children and raise them as Israelites? No, I think even those children were demonic.

Yep. In many cases they had to disappear into the catacombs just to try and hide from the authorities. Other than John, everybody died a horrific death. Giving up family, friends, job, ministry, possessions, health and life itself was the norm for a long time. Getting the truth and living it is a royal pain. Lots of work too.

That said, God promises that if we keep on continuously seeking, knocking ... as a habit and way of life we will find before we die. But it's the present tense. Those that stop making sure, double checking, examining the scriptures diligently daily, being workmen cutting straight the word of God, continuously proving all things over and over again as a habit and way of life ... aren't guaranteed a thing.

All of those verses are in the present tense - ongoing continuous, never stopping ... action. But as long as that's your new way of life you are guaranteed a win.

And yes... getting the truth always costs you your life. He who will keep his life will lose it. He who loses his life for My sake will keep it.

It is nice to have God's guarantee that if getting the truth and living it is the focus of our life we will get the Holy Spirit / salvation before we die. The price is high ... your life. The price of not giving up your life now is much higher. Everyone chooses ... pay now or pay later.

and if only a few million are saved then the cross was a MISERABLE FAILURE! We would be better off looking for a different god...

The number needs to be much much larger than that!

The number is simply speculation, based on speculation of how many people ever existed.

The number itself doesn't matter. That fact is the number is FEW, relative to the WHOLE of all ever born.

If "You", find it UN-worthy, and a "fail" to be counted among the "FEW", that is "Your" prerogative.

"You" do not have to worry about God dragging you, kicking and screaming in protest, to BE among the FEW.

FYI - ALL will "believe", thus your "failure" claim is moot.
FYI - ALL will not be "saved", thus scriptures claim of "Few" shall be fulfilled.
FYI - The FEW "chosen" are Gods "worthy".

Isa 45
[23] I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Matt 22
[14]
For many are called, but few are chosen.

Rev 3
[4] Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

Trust God.

God Bless,

Its the mortals who have failed Jesus and God. God didn't fail. Mortals are blind as bats--Satan and his teachers transform into angels of light( 2Cor 11:12-15) making things off the table of demons( 1Cor 10:21) look loving to the mortal heart. satan owns 99% of all religion on earth.

The truth Jesus brought had 2 sides--the teachings of eternal life in Gods kingdom and the opposite. His truth as well exposed the false god worship and pagan practices off the table of demons. They did not like those truths back then or now, so they killed Jesus, apostles then the followers.

Its hard for one to find -TRUTH-- in this world. Jesus started-ONE religion( 1Cor 1:10)--there are 34,000 religions claiming to belong to Jesus--one does.

Luke 18:25 it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle, than for a wealthy man to enter into the Kingdom...narrow (from obstacles standing near about) is the way and few there be that will find it

If someone prefers uninteresting material goods to much more interesting heavenly things then doesn't that indicate that there is a flaw in the design of that mortal's brain?

It's like trying to convince someone with severe mental disability to get interested in quantum electrodynamics xD

I think we have to be careful how we interpret the Bible. My interpretation is that "few will be saved" based upon the fact that there will be a lot of non-believers. Few means non-believers!
No it means their will be a few believers that will be saved. Read the Greek!

A woman leader at the church Bishop Joseph Garlington grew up in said that in her study only about 7 or 8 people from all of time would actually get into heaven. (not even all of the apostles)

when Jesus said few will be saved did he just mean only a small percentage of the world will believe in him?
If Jesus said "few will be saved" then that's what he meant. But he didn't say it. Someone asked him, probably because they thought his standards were too high, perhaps to mock or discredit him.

What Jesus answered was: not how many, but rather, what we have to do. The target is small: only one way to redemption, many to perdition.

Thank you for calling out this verse (Matthew 7:14); I was replying specifically to (Luke 13:23) and following.

This verse in (Matthew 7:14) says few "will find" the gate, or perhaps, few "are finding" the gate. It doesn't say few "will be" saved. "Finding" and "being" are quite different concepts philosophically. The phrases are: "Finding life" and "will be saved". "Finding" is a ongoing moment by moment activity. "Being" is a condition of permanence after arriving.

Also (Matthew 22:14): many are called, but few are chosen. Being chosen is an ongoing condition after the choice by God. Being called happens repeatedly as an ongoing activity by God.

I wonder if Jesus is talking about: for all of time only a tiny percentage will end up redeemed; or whether he means at any given moment? For example, if you examined my life at any instant, for only a few of these instants (those after I became a Christian) was I entering at the narrow gate. Those who convert at the end of their life will have a correspondingly smaller percentage of time spent entering in the narrow gate.

Anyway, I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Check out the previous verse:

13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it

"Life" and "destruction" are eternal destinies.

What did Jesus mean when he said "few will be saved?" There are billions of Christians out there! Christianity is the largest religion in the world! So surely many will be saved? What are we missing? Discuss.
Jesus was speaking about his own faithless generation.

Most people "proclaim" to be Christians, however they classify themselves as a certain religion by birthrights. Unless a man be born-again, he will not see the kingdom of Heaven, Jesus said. John 3:3

I very recently read that 83% of America professes Christ. The truth is that one must be born again to hope for Heaven. Being obedient to the Commandments Christ gave are impossible to obey without Christ Living within you. “Ye shall through much tribulation enter into The Kingdom of God”. This is all Spiritual.

Acts.14
  1. [22] Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
