Oh yes, the government/media coverage treating all as if they were at equal risk and were GONNA DIE if they didn't do (insert whatever latest demand was, not mask (when masks were scarce), mask, distance 6 feet because the virus would only go that far, wear mask but take it off when you sat down to eat, get vaccine, etc) most decidedly did happen. Perhaps you missed it.That did not noticeably happen.
"Both figures show that major U.S. media were more negative in tone than major international media, affirming the assertions of Sacerdote, Sehgal and Cook. On average, 90% of stories published in major U.S. media outlets were negative in tone, while 54% of non-U.S. stories were negative. Similarly, the authors found the share of negative words in U.S. major media stories was higher than in non-U.S. stories."
They overplayed their hand.
CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky tells CNN's Dana Bash that all eligible Americans should get vaccinated in order to protect themselves from the virus.
Because "vaccinated people are safe", she repeated - falsely- multiple times. The "unvaccinated" should get vaccinated and wear a mask so "they are safe". This is when government and media started to demonize those who were not vaccinated, when reality has shown that most people who died WERE vaccinated, as they were generally elderly and with co-morbidities. But the conversation suggests everyone who isn't vaccinated is some walking time bomb to be feared and reported on by others. This was a reprehensible tactic and led to much distrust, particularly since virtually everything was false.
She also rejoices that 12-15 year olds could be vaccinated - even though they had virtually NO negative outcomes, except myocarditis from the vaccine. And was thrilled to report that soon babies and children would be able to get it, even though they, as well, had virturally any negative response to this virus, per the stats. Oh, she mentions masks for OUTDOOR sports for kids, which was always ridiculous.
And "breakthrough" infections are rare." Nope...everyone got it (or was exposed and simply didn't get sick) sooner or later anyway, irrespective of status.
Watch her. This was NONSTOP rhertoric 24/7 on the fearmongering channels, and just at regular intervals on the more rational channels.
