  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evolution or the Bible?

And yet it does just that.

King James Bible
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind,

You don't believe the text, just as it reads?

Genesis 2:19
And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them:

Scripture says that God used the land to create all living things.

Sure God used the land. That does not mean evolution. Cause it also says the land brought forth every living creature after it's own kind. It does not say God created one creature and everything else evolved from that. He also did it in one day. That also defys evolution. Bolding one text while ignoring the rest doesn't do justice to the scripture. It just looks like your trying to make the Bible say something it doesn't.

God created the fish and the birds first before the land creatures. That contradicts evolution.

"Yes."

Most technologies that we use every day are not described in the Bible. It's not a textbook for biologists or engineers.

For "literalists": we read that "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Guess that means God never did / couldn't do anything outside of creation, right? I mean, if that was the beginning...
Is that what scripture says or is that what you think?

Read Romans 3
sorry just trying to figure out inserting quotes . My belief is

We know that creation was started by God and men know that the big bang occured because the universe is expanding . Both are right . Science supports creationism on this one point

Men cannot prove the big bang occurred nor they can they prove the universe is expanding. Men don't have enough knowledge to prove either one, they only think they do.

I think some of evolution is true. I believe that some of the Bible is figurative.

Why? Why anything? Because He is and everything else is His creation. Of course, we know very little of how any of His work occurs and the why of it.
Some of the parts which are understandable are not so understandable to most. Like Paul said: Study to show yourself approved of God, RIGHTLY dividing the word of truth.

Do away with Denominations and find truth!

Perhaps we come to understand the "why" somewhat as we grow older. The Lord has come up with this great creation and he wants to share it with us.

As for the denominations, if we all obeyed the Lord, there would be no dissent among us.

Sure God used the land. That does not mean evolution. Cause it also says the land brought forth every living creature after it's own kind.

That is the standard natural method of procreation. ("Kind" means parents have children like them)
"Land" refers to natural development rather than flash, pop, out of nothing.

So if someone thinks for instance that little or no time passed during verse 1, they should not demand others agree with them. They are free to imagine that. It's not in the text. If I think it was 9 or 10 billion years, that's not in the text.
Adam was not subject to death before the fall.
That indicates he was not subject to "time" before The Fall.

Please explain? Before Adam was "in the beginning." That's a time reference.

I might as well ask you "why does the wind blow". Because you do not know.

But give me your best guess.

No poll attached to this as this forum is primarily Christian, so it would not be fair.

And, yes, I do know the answer to this question. But, I will not tell.

Drew
Drew, how do we not blame God for all the bad things that happen in our lives? Why are we taught that God is good, ALL THE TIME and that all things happen thru God, yet if I feel like I do now and want to know why I work so hard to be a “good man” or good disciple yet my life’s luck seems to get worse with every breath? Why is this? Does God hate me? Am I so delusional that my efforts for the good are truly NOT and I’m making my own Karma with my Lord? Please pray for me brothers and sisters! My faith is hitting a lifetime low, as is my life and my relationships with God, Family, friends and all I come in contact with.

Sorry I don't get your point. The term special creation isn't in the Bible. We just made it up to describe the uniqueness of the creation of man. ... It's just a word that we use to describe what the Bible teaches.

But it do not teach that....my entire point.
Rather than "Flash" out of nothing, scripture belabors the
SLOW creation of all life and the re-fashioning of man
into a spiritual likeness.

21 God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed

created
-to shape, create-
brings about (1), clear (2), create (6),
created (32), creates (1), creating (3),
Creator (4), cut them down (1),
make (2), produced (1).
