I can answer that very simply, but it takes belief in God to understand this: God opens our eyes as we seek Him. IF God revealed everything to humanity all at once humanity would cease to exist!
What?!
How have you determined that this source must be non-matter and non-energy?
Also, generally when people describe something, they try to talk about the properties that it DOES have. Not the properties that it doesn't.
A non-matter, non-energy thing. What the hell is that?
Because to me, such a thing is very much indistinguishable from a thing that does not exist.
Life exists, and no law in nature is violated by life.
Do you know the difference between "nearly impossible" and "impossible"?
The fact is that you are making a huge appeal to ignorance.
God cannot be in the presence of Sin.
Sin would evaporate much as darkness
disappears when you turn on a light.
How about "A snowball's chance in hell?"
That is an observation within our universe.True enough.
Here it is again.
The laws of science dictate that every effect must have a cause.
Modern cosmology observes the sum of matter and energy in the observable universe to be zero.Energy and matter exist in seemingly infinite quantities. - EFFECT
Faulty premise, faulty conclusion.so
the cause must be seemingly infinite and outside of our "system"
in order for it to have appeared in the first place.
And we do not know that what we observe within the cosmos can be applied prior to its instantiation.Because we all know that something doesn't come from nothing
in OUR system.
It would certainly cause issues in the academic and scientific communities; theories on biology, palaeontology, molecular biology, genetics, anthropology, etc would all have to be rewritten. Supporting sciences of astronomy, geology, etc would have to be cleaned out and redone to accommodate a young cosmos. It think a better question may be...
If evolution was found to be debunked and positively false and all the humans on the earth accepted the YEC. Whether it is right or wrong, true or false, myth or divine fact and that the scriptures in Genesis are literal.
How would this harm the human race, society, the well being of the world?

If prayer was found to work, science would go
No, your query was , "what harm would a lie do if it was universally accepted?" I found it strange that someone professing to be a Christian would ask that question.
If you want me to answer it, I will. If the theory of evolution were falsified, then biologists would have no explanation for the diversity and distribution of life on earth. We would have to find a new hypothesis to test and develop a new theory.
Now what harm would it do if YEC were universally accepted in its place, instead of a new scientific theory? This would mean that the science of biology would stagnate and intelligent inquiry into the diversity and distribution of life would be prevented. This would have serious consequences for vaccine and pesticide research, as well as environmental conservation. The effects of global warming could not be predicted for population studies and man-caused extinction could not be midigated.
Worse still, students learning in class would not understand what scientific inquiry is. If some one says that their interpretation of the bible explains the diversity and distribution of life on earth, and how old the earth is, then what is the point of scientific research? Afterall, scientific research does not support YEC, yet it is correct anyway.
YECs are closed minded because they will only consider their own interpretation of religious dogma and nothing else. They may come here and ask for evidence for evolution or deep time, but they don't care about it in the least. They were not originally convinced by evidence and will not be un-convinced by evidence. Period.
Pascal was a coward interested in personal gain over truth -- that's why he hedged his bets.
Aren't you doing the same when you witness to others in the hopes they'll convert?
Yes, the entire scientific community bows to the whim of Charles Dawkins. Even people in fields he has nothing to do with.
Dawkins is a famous atheist and speaker, but it's not like he has any real sway in the community. I don't think he even does research anymore.
Today's "intellects" are quite a joke! If someone like me can see through the idiotic statements and false theories, based solely on common sense, then how can intelligent people not see through the same thing?
I can answer that very simply, but it takes belief in God to understand this: God opens our eyes as we seek Him. IF God revealed everything to humanity all at once humanity would cease to exist! God, in His infinite wisdom and love spares us from that ever happening by REVEALING Himself slowly to us erring humans so as we begin to see more and more of Him, and His infinite wisdom He will give us answers to give to inquisitive minds like yours. Only by studying God's word can one expect to receive God's infinite wisdom little by little. Those who fight against studying God's word have no idea what I am talking about, but those, like Jane who just joined know very well what revelation from God means.

Supporting sciences of astronomy, geology, etc would have to be cleaned out and redone to accommodate a young cosmos.
If prayer was found to work, science would go out the window, as no results could be trusted, as one could never be sure if the experiment was successful, or the results of divine meddling.
If the world worked as described in the bible, it would be a very strange place indeed.
If evolution were false and YEC were true, accepting truth wouldn't harm anyone in the slightest.
If prayer worked consistently, would we really need science? I mean, developing cures for cancer is nice, but if just praying would be enough to do it, what would be the point?
