    Yes I mentioned Ray Comfort.

The following video is not of a messianic jew, but he is correct in much including the dire need to cease sin.

Ray Comfort doesnt stress the need to cease sin. Ray introduces the "ten commandments" asking "have you ever lusted" ... "That makes you an adulterer", "did you know Jesus died for your sins, and If you believe in him you'll have life" ...then Ray thinks the sinner "stops" (when he doesnt really) his sins out of thanks to God. The sin still happens, I've even sent a letter to his ministry "living waters" and they believe we're sinful by nature and cant even be pure of sin for one single day.
The sin really does need to stop or man will go to hell, without true repentance man will not inherit life.

Feel free to ask questions to me or Mike in the video.

Yes... the anti-christ will be muzlim, and the pope will be the false prophet.

You'll see that this is exactly how it's gonna play out.

Always remember to study the New Testament in it's entirety and compare what preachers teach with ALL of what the New Testament teaches... for many are taking parts of the NT and are coming up with messages that sound good but in fact are messages directed by satan to deceive.

If these days are not shortened, the elect will be deceived... so Jesus will be removing His overcomers from the earth soon (rapture) and all who are left will be going thru the Great Tribulation including many of the preachers you see on TV that everyone thinks are so highly anointed of the Lord.

Very interesting times we live in...

That's everyday mainstream Christian teaching that most denominations believe. One must embrace spiritual growth to overcome willingly and knowingly committing sin.

Ray Comfort does believe we need to quit sinning, he just takes the mainstream view that all sin is the same and does not acknowledge willful sin with falling short of absolute perfection. Big difference between these two and it's this premise that led to seeker sensitive so called freedom to sin willfully believing it matters not because Jesus paid for the sins of mankind at the Cross... which He did, but that does not mean it's OK to live in sin.

The part many today leave out is found in Romans chapter 8... walking in the Spirit, and hosting the Holy Spirit in your life so that you do not willfully sin because you are led by the Holy Spirit.

Although you will not attain to absolute perfection while here on earth in this un-renewed body, we can certainly stop the willful living in sin by walking in the Spirit and allowing the Lord to purge us thru the renewing of the mind.

Well, good for you... meanwhile, God desires for other to be warned and taught the truth to counter all the false teaching going around in the Body of Christ.

The meat of the Word is to teach others to actually walk in the Spirit and in doing so, turn away from the darkness of this world and live IN CHRIST.

Glad you are teaching this!

    Gospel,

I agree with you that we are to warn others of false teachings and to be taught the truth of God's word. And to live in the Holy Spirit and not the flesh.

Being led by the Holy Spirit is being IN CHRIST.

If you search the net, you can find a list of "In Christ" scriptures which is a blessing to have.

Having had friends who were involved in the Emergent Church movement, the reality is that it's not really as monolithic as many make it out to be - for it's like asking what the shape of an ocean wave looks like.....there are many variations even though there's commonality on certain levels - and thus, you have to deal with things on a case-by-case basis.

Doing a lot of research on it since 2006-2008, I used to have some files with many documents/studies on it as well as sermons - but unfortunately, that got lost....and so, on your question, a lot of what I may be able to answer is based on whatever memory of material I had. Most of the Emergent Church is based squarely in the concept of being (in the name of the Lord) akin to post-modern culture in order to "reach" post-modern culture that doesn't believe in moral absolutes and causes many to question much of what the faith was about.

On the subject, one excellent source of information I'd recommend would be the scholar known as Dr. Ravi Zacharias - as seen here , here and here.

The best person for information on the issue, from what I've seen, is Mark Driscoll since he used to be heavily involved in it - and he has had many solid presentations on the matter which may help to bring more clarity on the matter:

I greatly appreciated his making distinction between those who are a part of the Emerging Church and those in the Emergent Church - as there's a difference that's very significant. Those who are in the Emerging Church are very concerned with being intentional in reaching others for the Gospel and being missional (with "Emerging" typically referring to any church or organization that sees as its primary mission reaching today's postmodern culture with the gospel ) - whereas those for Emergent are those who are more controversial.

Other good individuals that one may consider would be people such as Claude Nikondeha of Amahoro Africa - who has created a new space in East Africa to build partnerships between emerging African leaders and Christians in northern churches (more here and here)...or the Late Dr. Richard Twiss of Wiconi International (more here and here /here in #1 /#17 /#126 ).

Additionally, here's an interesting conversation between an Emerging British emerging individual named Jonny Baker and Yemi Adedeji, who happens to be a Charismatic preacher from Nigeria. And in listening to it, there was alot of interesting thoughts placed on the table between 'modern' and 'postmodern' faith--including the misconceptions of what that means.

One can find the conversation here.

IMHO, The dialouge was informative on a myriad of levels, as well as highly intriguing seeing the dynamics of what was discussed when it came to post-modernism concerning the black church and older ways in comparison to the new ways and the wrestlings between one generation feeling stiffled on being a prophetic voice in the African Church while the other side wrestling with how a generation often not being trusting of "truth claims" can ever truly deal with the truth/be a prophetic voice for today if everything is questioned. Things dealt with in interview were subjects such as how does cross-cultural communications work, what does a post-colonial faith look like, how can post-colonial Westerners interact with non-Westerners whose faith came about directly from the more "colonial" versions of Christianity and what to do when it comes to generation differences. And of course, more was said besides that..

    Shalom...
