No matter whether you agree with them, and whether they agree with each other, it doesn't really matter. What the Word says is what matters. The rest is just personal attitude which does not address scripture and in this case, many things said hare are factually wrong as well.
God does not rule by man's version of morality, but by His Word, and His Word made wine, drank wine and gave wine to others to drink and He did not sin in doing so because Jesus never sinned.
No matter how many PhD's, personal experiences or collective agreements you may have, it does not change God's Word.
I find the Church addresses drinking wine much like it does divorce and remarriage, not in line with the Word of God! This is because, of their own unresolved personal weaknesses, many members of the Church continue to put additional burdens on God's children that the Holy Ghost is not in favor of.
The Church struggles with gnats like drinking wine and divorce and remarriage while millions of its' members lives are drastically shortened by obesity.
Obesity is also taught to children by their parents. It is a nation epidemic. God did say it is better to put a knife to our throats rather than suffer gluttony. God never said anything like put a knife to our throat about drinking wine.
I guess I missed all the fervent condemnation of gluttony in this forum. If you believe that your witness can be ruined by appearances, then what do you think people think of obese Christians who are out witnessing or stuffing themselves at the local smorgish board?
God does not forbid drinking wine, but He does forbid gluttony. Hmmmmmm?
I'm still waiting for a Word of Faith Christian to directly address the scriptures I cited.
John 2:8-10
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew
It didn't stop Jesus from doing miracles.
John 4:46, 49-50
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
Even thogh Jesus posessed miraculous healing powers, Jesus did recommend it for health reasons.
1 Timothy 5:23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
Finally, why do some in the Church lay the additional burden of abstinence on others as a requirement for Holiness?
Acts 15:28-30
28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
