We all know about the last of those situations, but I was thinking that the rest of those instances called for photo IDs, too.

However, when I Googled the question to be sure, I couldn't find the answers, although I found entries for what looked like every media outlet in the country reporting, in the first line, that Trump "wrongly" or "falsely" said that people have to present ID when they buy at the grocery store--even with the several sources normally considered to be conservative. We don't seem to have newspapers anymore; we just have editorialists.
Or, perhaps, Trump was demonstrably wrong with his assertion and news outlets were correctly reporting that he was wrong.

Wonderful times we are living in. I have never seen such blind devotion to a leader regardless what they say or do in my lifetime, what could go wrong?

Are you serious?? The way he combs his hair is red meat to the haters! They attack his wife for being foreign-born at the same time as they talk like they are the fast friends of every immigrant. The list is endless.

To think that what you are suggesting would actually happen is not realistic.

You don't think his hair is ridiculous? I think it is.

That wasn't the point. And, yes, I've seen comb-overs before. To make that the never-ending subject of ones insults doesn't speak well for those doing it, that's all.

And while we are talking about this, Joe Biden addressed his own baldness with hair plugs, you know. I don't recall that there was much of anything said about that, not even when he was running for president or vice-president.

Remember what the Leader said, “What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening.” And I guess hearing the Leaders own words also count.

Remember Bowling green!

Vote in 1984!

Win the war in Eastasia!

I don't recall Biden's hair plugs looking flat-out ridiculous.

Trump's unnatural coiffure has been pointed out to be flat-out redonkulous since well before he ever announced he was running for office. Why should we not point out that his hair is ridiculous at this point? It IS ridiculous. It was ridiculous before and it's ridiculous now.

That's not why he's a poor excuse for a President. If he was a good President, I'd say that he was a good president WITH RIDICULOUS HAIR.

But instead, he's a bad President WITH RIDICULOUS HAIR.

It looks kinda silly to me as they are right now, and when they were just plugs in a row across the front of his face while he was going about his official duties as a member of Congress...you can bet they looked ridiculous.

I think rather that someones bluff was called. If you are carded for using a check or buying with SNAP or its equivalent, that's "buying groceries."
No, that really isn't; you can still buy the groceries without the id. That's being carded for using a check, not for buying groceries. Yeah, "bluff", that's the ticket...

Using a check to buy groceries, you mean. You are really grasping at straws now IMHO.

To play devils advocate, he’s not lying just demonstrating his ignorance of doing the groceries. Now if he has stated he personally went to do his groceries and ID was demanded then yes he’d be telling porkies.
Yeah, well, with Donald, that's always a problem - he stated outright that this was so and, when caught out, didn't back down, he doubled down and made more excuses. It's troubling when your president can't be trusted to state a simple fact, when everything he says must be doubted.

No, I'm not the one who's grasping. It wasn't the grocery buying per se that needed the ID, it was the check using - and you know this.

By extension, your and Donald's argument would also mean that ID wouldn't be required for every vote, just in special circumstances, e.g. VWB?

The most dangerous part about it is that Trump knows this.

He knows he can *literally say anything* and a very large part of his base will accept it and find ways to rationalize it into reality because in their minds, the only other alternative is to side with the "Trump haters" as they call us. To side with the liberal fake news media, with the FBI investigation, with the Never Trumpers... Since they can't bring themselves to admit that at least some of the criticisms against him are valid, they have to now pretend everything he says is gold.

Their sense of objectivity is shot.

President Trump wasn't lying. A photo ID is needed in Ohio for buying groceries when someone is using Food Stamps. See the following article:

Ohio House passes bill that would put ID photos on food stamp cards

Also, an ID is needed when someone buys alcohol or tobacco products when they look young.

So, because a small sub-section of those who buy groceries (i.e. those using food stamps) meet the threshold of his claim, then his claim is valid?

Alcohol and tobacco aren't "groceries".

And since you bring it up, that's another example of how this is nothing more than faultfinding gone extreme.

You know as well as I do, that there was nothing about national security, elections, the Supreme Court, or anything of that gravity there. It was about grocery shopping (!) and was only one of several examples given in that sentence. Obama, by comparison, claimed that there are 57 states. No one was permitted to call him a LIAR! because of that.

No one had to pretend there actually were 57 States to avoid a simple criticism over an erroneous statement.

The truly sad part in all of this is that we could have just all laughed at the out-of-touch billionaire together and moved on as a country but because some simply can't bring themselves to accept any of Trump's faults, no matter how minor or glaringly obvious, this turns into another big debate in America.

It's the little things like this that really highlight the huge problem of division that is plaguing our country.

You are absolutely correct. Can you imagine how sickened I was when Obama then sent his spokesperson out in front of people to claim that there were, in fact, 57 states because some states should be counted twice? It was terrible. Then Obama just kept saying there were 57 states and then accused Fox News of being fake news and lying to the American people.
