The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Evidence please.Autism is down to either; chemicals in the food chain, possible side effects from immunisations given to children, or hereditary.
If you have to hide it from people then they are bad people.I already told the pastor and he was nice about it. it's something that I can not hide and pretend to be neurotypical.
I am against what my church advocates in terms that I am not social and lack empathy. This I think is what I need to learn and so far they have been accommodating and very nice I like it there. But we have a lot of different beliefs right off the bat and I need to just go with their flow and try not to open my mouth too much or I feel they may ask me to leave.
Not sure if that is a sign that it's the right church because they have what I am missing, or if I should go with my heart of heart and that is to love the neighbour but still lock the door at night to keep evil people out.
Christianity doesn't teach that. Unfortunately, some who claim to be Christians believe some very hurtful beliefs. However, this is like all of humanity no matter what religion (or lack of religion) that a person claims to follow. I'd say that not all who claim to be Christian actually are Christians, though it isn't my place to judge the salvation of individual persons.Good grief, man. What kind of a question is that?
Is this what Christians in the 21st century really believe?
This is a VERY poor advert for Christianity.
If it was not so sadly shocking it would hilarious.

I dunno what it's like in your country but in the U.K. there anti discrimination laws so it's best to be upfront with prospective employers.True I am conflicted about telling employers and or school about it. I am not employed yet, but plan to be someday. I am seeing a councilor for employment on where they are going to try to find employment for me. I am unsure if I should just lay my cards on the table and tell employers about it or wait until after I get in?
Not everyone is accepting of people like me. That's the thing.
Same here in the USA. Disability DiscriminationI dunno what it's like in your country but in the U.K. there anti discrimination laws so it's best to be upfront with prospective employers.
Good luck in your job hunting!
There's lots of Autistic people out there, and it's well documented to the point almost everyone knows someone on the autistic spectrum. Thanks, I am hoping to lead a healthy productive life. And I wanted to know that there are people out there that look at it as something to be accepted.
Were you born Autistic? But at the same time I want to fight it like it is a disease. I am conflicted on whether I should pray about it and ask for deliverance, or to embrace it?
No Church or community will shun you, they probably won't even know beyond you not making much eye contact, keeping yourself to yourself, social isolation of sorts. It's good that you have the confidence to want to join Church services and interact with Society. For all intents and purposes you will appear pretty much like a shy kind of guy.Should I be proud and tell my church about it? or should I keep a tight lip? it's something that control my life along with schizo-affective disorder, agoraphobia, ADHD should I just be honest with everyone?
Nothing to hide, you're worrying unnecessarily and the Pastor's reaction is confirmation of this.I already told the pastor and he was nice about it. it's something that I can not hide and pretend to be neurotypical.
What about war past down through generations, can making war with one another cause peoples dna to alter? and maybe cause birth defects.
Likely weak, but I do recall looking into it 10 years or so ago:Evidence please.
They are just claims.Likely weak, but I do recall looking into it 10 years or so ago:

One last thing, I don't believe that autism is caused by vaccines. I believe it is partly genetic in my own case(both my parents are very detail oriented and unemotional, and socially introverted).
What might help is changing your diet, and there's evidence that can help some people with autism because people with autism have more digestive problems typically. Probiotics have also been found useful clinically.
More awareness leads to more diagnoses. Growing up, nobody told me I was autistic. Because my parents didn't pick up on it because they have some of the traits too. People just thought I was different. Maybe once a counsellor tried to talk to my parents about something she picked up on, but they were far too defensive to listen.
