And now you know better. This is a good example of the way ignorance can blindside you in discussions like this.

Although I'd love to say I know anything better after this thread, I do not. I'm not sure what you mean, except that you are trying to claim some victory over me on some ground. I'm not aware of what that ground is.

You probably should know that professional creationists use "circular reasoning" as a mantra whenever they are confronted with evidence they can't explain. So we hear it a lot. It just means "I don't know what to say, and this seems like it would sound profound."

You should know that some Muslims use the Qu'ran to support terrorism and the abuse of women, even to kill them.

How that affects you I don't know, and how your reference to these creationists "out there" affects me, I have no idea.

While we're discussing irrelevant groups, I want you to know that some Japanese people create strong ideological separations between the "Japanese person" and the "foreigner" (non-Japanese).

Well. let's restore the context, then...

Wait a minute... I see it now! Since we've classified that as "archosaur," therefore everything that has it is a "dinosaur descendent," and therefore, they are "dinosaur scales."
Barbarian observes:
No. What a goofy idea. It turns out that dinosaurs had scutes. And birds have them, as well as crocodilians. But these three groups were grouped on the basis of other evidence, such as anatomy, transitional fossils, and the like. Scutes are just further confirmation of the fact.

One of the more interesting confirmations of this relationship came about when a Tyrannosaurus rex bone was found with a little bit of heme still in it.

When analyzed, it was found to be most like that of birds, a little like mammals, and less like modern reptiles. Precisely what evolutionary theory predicted.

I love how classifications are used to defend classifications

Perhaps that's why creationists are considered relatively harmless. They are a bumptious bunch, but rarely violent.

Well, I for one could agree with science. The big bang is presupposed. (the earth was without form, Genesis 1:2) However, the light is the presence of illumination. (Genesis 1:3) God created the luminary bodies on the fourth day. (Genesis 1:14-19) What is certain is that God created the universe with a word, not with a bang.
'Bang' is a word isn't it?

But seriously, 'Big Bang' is just a catchy slogan, originally thought up by an astronomer who hated the theory to poke fun at it. Don't read to much into the term, or think the universe actually went 'BANG'. I think you are trying too hard to read a literal timetable of creation into Genesis 1, bear in mind Genesis 2 gives a completely different order of creation, so maybe giving timetables is not the point of the story.

Incidentally, Job 38:7 says the morning stars sang together when the foundation of the earth were laid.

Of course not. He's a foreigner.

Actually, most Japanese "create strong ideological separations between" themselves and various groups of other Japanese, such as Ainu (who ironically appear to have been the source of the Japanese samurai class) and the burakumin. Went so far that some companies purchased lists of burakumin from investigators to avoid hiring them. They are indistinguishable, outside of such lists.

I have successfully derailed this thread almost entirely.

The options are too limiting.

Though the current theories of evolution are quite challenging to one's beliefs in an almighty all-powerful God and the Bible's literal truths. And the rooted truth in the Scripture that we were made in God's image thus we could have never been animals of a lower cast incapable of recognizing and acknowledging the Creator.

Or the account of Genesis is an encrypted metaphor and there is some validity to evolution.

Or evolution is a test a satanic lie and strong delusion, and the account of Genesis is entirely factual. And someday there will be that watershed moment when the "scales of our eyes" fall off. And many believers (and perhaps non-believers alike) jaws are going to drop to the floor.

Personally, I am neutral because I am so poorly schooled in evolutionary theoretic sciences. I have very little interest in evolution and the "origins of the species". Too ill-equipped and rather not go there.

If the Genesis account is correct, then all the programming through curriculum and media has dealt a deadly hand to the world.

Seems like an odd way to "glorify God", but then maybe it's not the God we're thinking about.

Why do you take pleasure in forked-tongue words? Do you enjoy trying to trap or "catch" a brother?

Anyway, my point is well-proven. It doesn't matter what some random group "out there" believes, it is not relevant to me and my discussion with you. Your choice to criticize "creation scientists" to me was a suggestion that I am or share the beliefs of "creation scientists." Which means you aren't debating with me... you're debating with a false image of me that you've already created.

We can discuss Japanese people, but that really isn't relevant, is it?

The Japanese people are the predominant ethnic group of Japan. Worldwide, approximately 130 million people are of Japanese descent; of these, approximately 127 million are residents of Japan. People of Japanese ancestry who live in other countries are referred to as nikkeijin. The term "Japanese people" may also be used in some contexts to refer to a locus of ethnic groups including the Yamato people, Ainu people, and Ryukyuans.

That appears to be his modus operandi. Sad to say, discussion is not profitable...better to move on. :(

I dunno, Bubba. You come in here, all about "glorifying God", and then celebrate hijacking a thread. And then you act offended when someone chuckles at the incongruity.

Might be, you should decide if you want to be an imitation of Christ or a troll. Half-and-half ain't working for you.

Did you miss the point of my "derailing" the thread? Perhaps you did.

You don't seem like a very sociable person in this regard. That's OK, not all of us are. Also, "all about glorifying God" is a reference to the tag in my name?

Barbarian you can fool me, but you know your own intentions and heart. You wrote with bad intentions. I was asking why.

Anyway, your suggestion that I am a "troll" is sad, but, perhaps you should check my posting history. It speaks for itself, You can search by clicking on my name and choosing Statistics.

BTW, you conveniently skipped over the comment that you lumped me with a group that I never associated with. Are you trying to avoid it, or is it preferable to point out another's apparent flaws instead ;).

Isn't it up to you to explain you position more clearly? If you want to play at derailing the thread instead, don't complain about being misunderstood.

Perhaps you should start again.

No, I don't think I will.

Thanks for the invite, though. Last time I came to this party, it was a big drag and we all left unhappy ;)
