Jews worship the same God as we Christians do, albeit in vain because they deny the Son. In denying the Son they deny the Father who sent him, and though they worship Jehovah God, he is not in them. It made Jesus very sad, and Paul very sad.

How would you define "same god"? Simply believing in the Old Testament and being monotheistic doesnt make the God of Judaism the same as the God of Christianity. Jews (similar to Muslims) have extrabibical writings that contradicts the key doctrines of the bible, such as the Talmud. The Talmud denounces Jesus as a false prophet.

Jews and Christians do NOT believe in the same God.

Christians believe in a God who can break covenant.

Jews do not.

LOL. When did you make your last sacrifice at the Temple, according to the Law? You should be glad that God is willing to AMEND (not break) the covenant.

Virtually all the commandments that God declared 'eternal' or 'throughout' your generations have something to do with the Temple.

Good point. Modern Jews do use the Babylonian Talmud as the basis for their religion.

And Christians acknowledge the new Temple, who is Jesus Christ. Jews have no Temple to exercise their part of the covenant, so they are the ones who have broken the covenant with God.

Have you ever read it? It has hermeneutic principles for interpreting Scripture, just as Christians do.

It may have hermeneutic principles, but the sources are quite different. Babylon isn't the best source for interpreting scripture.

Think it through.

Christ is God. Jews reject Christ. Ergo...

correction.. many jews or peoples of israeli descent..believe and have accepted that Jesus is the messiah.
Paul, after all was a jew in the absolute meaning of what a jew is.
The bulk do not yet recognize Jesus Is the one the father sent..but they believe in the same father..

How can you say that Jews believe in God the Father, when they dont even recognize the concept of the Holy Trinity? Jews deny a doctrine that's even implied in the Old Testament, aka the Torah.

well, we kind of covered this already..
they don't need to believe/accept the modern terminology of the trinity(its not a scriptural word) as they already,in their language, allow for the multifaceted nature of Elohim .the very hebrew word for God,is PLURAL already. so they are ,in some ways more familiar with the nature of the "God head" then many Christians.
when many christians say "God" they think "him-singular" and struggle to comprehend when the lord Jesus says "i and the father are one.

but when the hebrew speaking jew says GOD..they are effectually saying both -him AND them- at the same time ..so when they come to recognise the lord Jesus as the messiah..they do not struggle with the two being one.

point is..they believe in the God of Abraham and abraham is the father of all those saved by faith.. Abrahams God is the one true living God....the God of israel IS the Christians God and only true living eternal GOD.

This is an interesting thread. I was prepared to fight you to the end, defending the idea that Jews and Christians do worship the same God. But Steve Peterson's posts (and his faith icon says Messianic) have stated, with authority, that we do not worship the same God.

So, I think I'll change sides on this, with the caveat that Modern Jews do not worship the same God as Christians, but that Christians do worship the same God as 1st century Jews.

The Jews worship God the Father because that is who he is to them: the great creator of the earth, the father of the nation of Israel, and the father of God's anointed. They believe in the Messiah, who has not yet come, and the Holy Spirit.

The Torah refers to the first five books of the Bible, not to the complete Old Testament (or Hebrew Bible).

.... not to mention where the pagan ideas in christendom came from....(opposed to Scripture, but held to as tightly as any tradition of man)

i don't know if you mean for the purpose of this thread, or otherwise.
but realize that 'christians' today don't worship the same as the ecclesia of the first century.

I do realize that. That's why this thread (and many other threads) is ludicrous. God is too big for anyone to nail him down to the "One True Way" to worship him. None of us--Christians or Jews, Ancient or Contemporary--can begin to fathom just exactly who he is.

The bottom line is that God is fully sovereign and, if you fully realize that and all the implications of that realization, then you worship him as best you can using the knowledge you have. But, as soon as you start thinking that God needs any of us for his purpose to be fulfilled or that he's anxiously waiting for us to make a decision to follow him, then whatever method you use for worship is meaningless.
