Jesus told you the earth is 6000 years old did he?
He did, though some assumptions are necessary.

That the Bible is not just divinely inspired as Paul tells us in his letter to Timothy, but produced word-for-word by Plenary Verbal Inspiration.

That the author of the Bible is not God the Father, but the Word (the second person of the Trinity) bodily incarnate as Jesus of Nazareth.

That the Bible is without any kind of error about the natural world not only in anything that it affirms but anything which can be deduced from it, even a crackpot deduction like Archbishop Ussher's.

These are also the assumptions which separate YECism from the rest of Christendom (along with an egregious right-wing political agenda and excessive devotion to the Lost Cause.)

Yup. Before the flood. Now, do you think you have a common ancestor with a rutabaga and can you make your case for step by step unguided prebiotic evolution? There is plenty of evidence for Dinos not that old. Soft tissue in Dino bones for one. Now come back with the ad hoc rationalizations and rescues.

Can you show us any of this abundant evidence? (Apart from the old soft tissue thing, although I'll happily show you why you're mistaken about that.)

He did not tell us humans, and modern apes had a common ancestor with an imaginary non-human creature. So why don't you make your case for that since that is what you believe via faith.

I didn't ask you what topics he kept quiet about, I asked if he told you that the Earth was 6000 years old.

I don't need to make a case for anything, I'm not your biology teacher.

Whilst I wouldn't disagree with your post Speedy, I was wondering if Jesus had personally spoken to dmmesdale. It might not shock you to learn that I don't believe that what's written in the bible is documentary evidence of what anyone said.

6. “Blind watchmaker” thesis: the idea that all organisms have descended from common ancestors solely through unguided, unintelligent, purposeless, material processes such as natural selection acting on random variations or mutations; that the mechanisms of natural selection, random variation and mutation, and perhaps other similarly naturalistic mechanisms, are completely sufficient to account for the appearance of design in living organisms.''
Have you got a source for that quote?

Nonbelievers are just that they don't believe one thing or another.

Atheist have a pretty ordered belief, varying only slightly according to the Sect~

They don't follow Muslims around arguing against Islam~but spend much of their life attacking The Church of Christ~in business were they to have such zeal~ would be quite successful~

Atheist bristle against the mention of their faith because they have no way of defending it~

Atheists on the main don't disbelieve~most know very well there is God~ they fear and hate Him~

I ask our Lord to free these unhappy failures from the chains of this false faith and bring those who are good and worthy into Your Light~

In The Name Of The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit~

those Lord who You know to be evil~give these an extra degree of discomfort for the trouble they've been~If it be Your Will```

This discussion forum is not about Theists versus atheists, or even about Christians versus atheists--it's about a cranky religious minority with a political agenda versus everybody else, theists and atheists together.

Thank you Speedwell, for direction~yet there is that "underlying" yelping as seen in the post closely before mine~ rearing it's head~it is to that I was speaking. If this is your thread and you have rules, I will follow them~I'll go now to see who is the OP.

It's not my thread and I was not laying down a "rule," just pointing out who the players really are. Scornful rejection of YECism is not an attack on theism or even Christianity specifically.

Thanks again I don't mean offence when I say: I can see who the players are~ the Atheist who calls you speedy had quoted and made a remark to which I answered. Anywho, I'm away from here~sorry for our misalignment~ continue with the debate with best wishes```

Speedwell~thank, I couldn't find it~At the time the news reported a citizen who claimed to be an Atheist was offended as were his friends and threatened to sue on grounds of Separation of Church and State. It was a distance from the Hwy 50 but~

Congratulations, it looks like you're beginning to accept the evolution of birds from feathered dinosaurs...
Why do you think I stuck "according to evolution" in there?

Then why do I think there were non-avian dinosaurs on the Ark, as well as avian dinosaurs?

Remember Noah? he sent out a dove and a raven.

How did that happen, if doves and ravens came centuries after T. Rexes, et. al.?

So you were being your old disingenuous self again. The Noah's Ark myth died long before Darwin's time. Since there was no Ark there was no dove, there was no raven.
