My friend Jon got me listening to Slipknot back in the day, and I was hooked for a good long while. Once I stopped being a such a hypocrite and started to give the Christian life the ol' college try, I left that genre behind. I still find myself humming the chorus for Wait and Bleed every now and then though.

Nadroj converted me to liking Velvet Underground and Radiohead, which are now definitely in my top 5 bands of all time. I also think that "Sweet Jane" and "Street Spirit" are two of my favorite songs of all time. Thanks Jordan. Now if only I could convert you to the Beatles...

The bands I've sought out and listened to down to people on here are: Pedro the Lion, DMB, and Phish. I quite like Perdo though I'm still to be convinced on the other two.

My mates from church got me into: Cat Power, Fugazi, Gang of Four, Godspeed You Black Emperor

A guy at work introduced me to the Killers although I'd already heard of them I hadn't actually heard any of their music.

Well back to the original question. I can't say that I've personally been converted. I had always been around various types/styles/genres of music so I was used to hearing different things. Although a little over 2 1/2 years ago I went to a Creed concert and my tastes in music drastically changed. I started to get into the rock/metal/punk and stuff like that, where as I was listening to pop before. That said, my brother used to listen to Creed and other alternative bands so I had heard them before and liked them.

However, I have "converted" others. I have some of my friends now hooked on Disturbed, Sevendust, A Perfect Circle etc. So I can't really say I've been converted because I had listened (although at the time non-voluntarily) to the stuff I listen to now (or along those lines) for years beforehand. But I did convert others or at least introduce them to other bands.
