As much as I love being American, I often have to remind myself that that is not as important as I'd like it to be. I know that the reality is that, as various political philosophers have stated, the days of the nation state are drawing to a close. Whether or not it ushers in the Antichrist, it is only a matter of time before American sovereignty (as well as that of other nations) is given up for something more global. I don't know how far down the road that is, but I know it's on the table. I know that arguments about which political party is ruining the country are more or less meaningless. There are certainly those who love freedom, but the power is in the hands of those who couldn't care any less about it. I know that all of that is a reality, but it's a reality that I really don't want to recognize as being right in front of my face.
I firmly believe that "advances" in sexual redefinitions will become much more frequent and much more commonplace. So many dynamics changed after the industrial revolution, and this debate about marriage is only one of its many fruits. All in all, I become less confident that all the advances in our standard of living and from the technological advances since the industrial revolution are really all that beneficial for us. It is my belief that these advances are the direct cause of the dysfunction that we see in the world today. We've done nothing to help cure our disease. If anything, we've made ourselves even worse off than we were before.
