do not trust your own cleverness.
5 Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone,
for they will surely sprout wings
and fly off to the sky like an eagle. Prov. 23:4-5
Reminds me of:
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:20
The things of this world are temporary, "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Cor. 4:18

I sooooooo can relate to these verses.

They are akin to being on dat ol' hamster wheel for me.

They ARE temporary, and they disappear like a mist. And what have we been runnin' around on day hamster wheel for?

Proverbs 23:

This is deep. God is continually "cultivating" our hearts, tending the "seed" He planted there. His aim is that those seeds bear "fruit", as we become what fills our hearts, and minds, and souls.

He is GOOD. He KNOWS what we would become if He didn't.

It's a very WISE thing to humble ourselves and be thankful for the absolute miraculous transformation that He plants, cultivates, and grows from the ashes of what we were.

This verse comes to mind:

"I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." ~Psalm 37:25

yes, and the Psalms are full of the promise that God provides...
For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly. Ps. 84:11
