16 Better is a little with the fear of the Lord,
Than great treasure with trouble.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs[c] where love is,
Than a fatted calf with hatred.

28 The heart of the righteous studies how to answer,
But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.

31 The ear that hears the rebukes of life
Will abide among the wise.
32 He who disdains instruction despises his own soul,
But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding.
33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom,
And before honor is humility.

A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly,
But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.

31 The ear that hears the rebukes of life
Will abide among the wise.
32 He who disdains instruction despises his own soul,
But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding.
33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom,
And before honor is humility.

Proverbs 15:

Verse 30 is precious.

Reminds me of this:

"the joy of the LORD is your strength." ~Nehemiah 8:10

As i thinks about it, God's joy is also like "armor", isn't it, in that it is like a "shield" against the fiery darts of the enemy, because it sorta' makes you immune to those nasty darts. Cuz joy and fear cannot exist in the very same vessel or place. As a matter of fact, me thinks dat "joy" downright "chases" those darts hahaaaaa. God's joy is like a "repellent" to the enemy. That's kinda' hilarious.

Goooooooo God!!!!!!!

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Prov. 15:1
I just love this verse, and am trying to follow it more in my own life.

Death and Destruction lie open before the LORD - how much more do human hearts! v. 11
I haven't thought of it this way, but it's so true. God has everything in front of Him, including death and destruction, so of course He can see our hearts.

Better a little with fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil. v. 16.
I love this, and I'd much rather have God than the wealth of this world. It reminds me of Matthew 6:19-21, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

I'm lifting my heart up to God regarding Proverbs 15:1 too.....it's been one of the hardest things to release to God, cuz i'm a recovering queen of sarcasm....

Yes, "rebukes" can sorta' be "warnings", can't they?

And if heeded, can be a very wise thing to do.
