Proverbs 1:

THIS is a phenomenal verse, chock full of what is very DEAR to God's very own heart, and a "key" to being, as David was, the "apple of God's eye" and a woman or man after God's own heart.

The Value of Wisdom
2 My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you,
2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
4 If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
8 He guards the paths of justice,
And preserves the way of His saints.

The wise have ears to hear and a willingness to learn.

Amen.

"A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck." ~Proverbs 1:

Alright, I'm jumping in now. (I was already reading in Prov., but I'm jumping back to Ch. 1 for today.)

Verse 7: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and understanding.
I've always known of this verse, but never thought about what it means. Fearing God helps us learn and understand more about him, but those who don't fear God don't learn anything and continue in their bad choices.

Also, from v. 20-33 wisdom's rebuke to the "simple" and "mockers" really brings to light we have to accept God to gain wisdom about Him, and if we're too late, then, as verse 28 says, "Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me." However, "but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm." (Verse 33). This reminds me of other instances in the Bible where God is telling people to follow and obey Him, and then warns them that if they don't, then by the time they are ready to (I assume after they die and have to face God's judgement, but that's my opinion), it will be too late and he won't accept them.

I think this reflection of what I'm reading will be good for me .

Proverbs 1:

This verse has always intrigued me:

"To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings." ~Proverbs 1:6

The part of "dark sayings" reminds me of "hidden treasures" that God reveals to us, as we "dig" so to speak, in His Word.

This verse comes to mind:

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." ~Jeremiah 33:3

"Calling" unto God is "delving" into His Word (digging).

It DELIGHTS Him.
