Crocheters?

I'm so disappointed. The baby afghan that I've been working on - I've been using some old yarn given to me by a friend. I checked before starting the project and I had plenty of yarn to complete the afghan. Or so I thought. I'm only about 3/4 done and I can tell that there isn't enough yarn to complete it.

I crocheted myself a ponco once and when i finished it it was way to big it slid down my body. So i had to stitch it together. But it looks ok but i don't wear it anymore. Kind of a waste but nobody wears them anymore.

I sewed myself one a year or more ago, but I never wear it either.

An idea, get a bit of coordinating yarn and put a piece (stripe) on both ends. Hope you think of something that works!!!

Thanks, but with this pattern I don't think anything will work. I have to have enough yarn to at least finish several more rows before the border. It just won't work.

Of course, I'm not absolutely certain that there isn't enough yarn to get to the border. But I'm pretty sure there isn't and I just hate to put any more time into it and not be able to complete it.

I crochet doilies, tablecloths, but not wearable items. I crochet loose and if I try to make something to wear it is too big. I like doing pineapple doilies.

Have you thought about wearing your doilies? Sew one to the back of a denim jacket, decorate a sweatshirt with small ones, edge a plain skirt with a series of small ones

Other ideas-- take a small doily, gather it across the center and glue or sew to a barrette blank. Decorate with ribbons, small roses or beads.

Use a medium to large doily as a snood by weaving elastic thread thru the last round.

Make 2 matching doilies, cut 2 pieces of fabric slightly smaller. Sew the fabric together to form a pouch, place between the doilies and sew themall together, leaving the top open. Add a chain handle and you have a pretty little purse.

I thread crochet, also. I don't like using bulky yarn. Right now I am working on a filet wall hanging. When I have a few free years I'd like to crochet my own curtains. What are you working on?

I'm working on a purse and a blanket, which was supposed to be a baby lanket, but now it's a bit big for that.

Yes, I could do the border in a different color but. . . the pattern is such that I would need to be able to complete it up to the border in one color which I'm pretty sure I don't have enough yarn to do.

Well, at this point, yes, I do. It has diamond shapes throughout the pattern and I'm about 3/4 of the way done.

Hiya Godflute! If you ever want to read a pattern, just ask and I can find you some Web pages that explain how to start reading a pattern. Crocheting in the round is a little advanced (especially in a spiral), so this angel would be too hard to start. But you can find something really cute like a shawl pattern and have lots of fun making it. Just let us know. Someone can give you pointers here!
