My stitch count still is right, not sure what you mean by gauge (English isn't my first language)... I do believe I'm working only one side of the base chain, certainly from that first row of crochet on...Celticflower said:If you are sure you are only working one side of your base chain for the first row then the twisting could work itself out with length. I do always have trouble getting the first row of crochet on the base chain... seems like it always twists and is hard to see where to put the hook in.
I found this section on crochet and I think it is so great that there are so many young crocheters. Some say its a lost art. not me! below is a link to a website that has helped me in so many ways with learning new stitches. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.
