Actually not. The conversations in this forum rarely turn on whether God is the author of our being. Theists believe it, atheists do not, but the real question is how it happened.

Like I said, people can believe whatever they want and that is fine. And I understand there are a lot of different beliefs ... and like I said that's ok .... but this forum is based on God and ... Christ ... so when people come in here (and all are welcome) and when scripture is used ... many take some kind of exception to that and then say explain our belief without using scripture? That is without Christ? They are asking the impossible. It's like some want us to shut up about it.

Well we won't/can't be silenced about it (ie using scripture).
this forums website is www.christianforums.com Based on Christ ... followers of Christ.

So with that, I ask (have asked) the question for those who are not followers of Christ what do they intend to achieve?

achieve -
to attain a desired end or aim : become successful

What is their purpose and objective?

As Christians we have purpose and objective and that is informing others about God & Christ.

Are those unreasonable questions to ask?

"Are those unreasonable questions to ask?" That depends: did you accept the answers you were given when you asked previously, or are they really just rhetorical questions for which you think you have the answer already, regardless of how we respond?

What I particularly object to is the implication that those Christians who do not subscribe to a literal reading of the Genesis creation stories are somehow not really followers of Christ. To put it more bluntly, this forum is not about theism, or Christianity vs. atheism, it's about those who read Genesis as accurate literal history vs, everybody else, Christians, other theists and atheists together.

By God, thats your explanation
Wow, great science, bro.

So, when asked, I can say "evolution, thats your explanation" and you will accept that, right?

Mind you were talking origins here, the issues are different then they would be for a normative exploration of natural phenomenon. Creation is a principle that transends Scripture, its literally described on the first and last page of the Bible.

Evolution isnt a theory, its a natural phenomenon. Saying evolution did it would betray a gross misunderstanding of what that term means. What you are mockingly arguing for with these relentless taunts is Darwinism. Thats the a priori assumption of universal common descent by exclusively naturalistic means. Now you could say nature did it and that might, almost make sense. It wouldnt be a legitamate cause, just an honest expression of you world view. Chareles Darwin would have said by natural law rather then miraculous creation.

And Mark has me on "ignore" because, as a Christian" I disagree with his assessment. Go figure.

For crying out loud!! What's to figure out---God breathed life into everything--that is it. Nothing to figure out!

Then you don't have an explanation.

Next.

We have no problem with this--you do!

That you don't ask questions or seek explanations is the problem.

Scripture doesn't provide the explanation. You need to go extra-Biblical for that. But the resistance to do so in this thread speaks volumes.

That's not how it works.

In the Petrine formula for spiritual growth, you add knowledge to virture from faith.

2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

Unregenerates want to start out with knowledge first, then faith -- and it doesn't work that way.

Then what can we conclude about the lack of knowledge on display in this thread...?
Cares?

Mark 4:19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

Once again, never said that.
Thats what your arguing, not for evolution but against creationism. Its actually been a couple of years since I seen a positive argument.

Depends on the problem! For what needs a question asked, I ask---for what doesn't, I don't! For what God does, that only He knows how---God did it is explanation enough!! Only explanation needed!

Here's the problem though: creationists that reject biological evolution as an explanation for origin of species and want to replace it with "Goddidit" are effectively asking to replace knowledge with lack of knowledge.

How is that supposed to work?
