  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

With considerable effort, I had to keep moving past a taco/fajita bar set up for a work related event last week.
I don't have a problem at home, but the office is a whole different story.

My husband thought it would be a good idea to make rabbit curry this week (he had to buy the rabbit, since we don't raise them anymore) and it's a two day affair. So my house smells like curry stew for two days now. I prefer beef curry stew, but I really love it and I only make it rarely, so I must say, it's been on my mind for a couple of days!

Would you believe the only time I have made curry is during Lent, using only vegetables?

I should! My favorite part of beef curry is actually the potatoes taking on the curry and apple flavors. (I make a sweet Japanese-style curry with apples.) Why didn't I think of that? ;)

The beef I use actually disintegrates into strings, so I probably wouldn't miss it. That's probably actually why I like it best, since I don't really prefer the chunks when I use other meats.

Very much a "duh" moment, lol. Thanks!

Thai curry with veggies and coconut milk is great. I'm starting to love coconut milk in iced coffee with a bit of honey as well.

CHEESE :(

I wouldn't go so far as to say I'd kill for some - but I really really want some
I went to a school event with my son this evening. They served cheese and biscuits and wine - I nibbled on the grapes.

I followed someone's suggestions on the forums for a beer I might like. Last week they were buy one get one free at Publix, so I bought two six packs. Tonight my husband chilled one, and I did have a sip.

I don't like beer, but this was pretty good - a second's beer taste, but lighter, followed with a raspberry aftertaste. I could drink that, and it wouldn't be far down my preference list of all beverages, both regular and alcoholic.

But .... but ..... but ....... I know some say beer is "liquid bread" but I never asked if it was allowed. I would have guessed it was maybe like wine. If I actually ASK my SF he will probably say no, since my fasting is light anyway. And by Pascha, my husband might have finished them off.

:sigh:

I am usually tempted, one of these Bright Weeks, to pull a Costanza and eat a block of cheese the size of a car battery

My brother did that once when we were kids. He got a tummy ache ...

(And I got in trouble for letting him do it, though I wasn't in the room when he did.)

[craving] a good piece of warm, well-buttered bread. [/craving]

My daughter made lenten friendly cornbread muffins. So we had pinto beans, cornbread, with diced pepper and onion. It was really great but see craving above. :)
