  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yep it doesn't matter. We used to know each other so well that we knew how each person came to the faith. I'm always curious how people came to be where they are.
And there is the old adage that converts take it more seriously, which can certainly be true if we must generalize. But some of my favorite memories are of my family memebers who were and are totally devoted to their faith. Ancient, heavily used rosaries and prayer books held together with rubber bands were a daily thing. I wonder if any families kneel together at night for a decade before bed. I've done it, but regrettably only as a child under the tutelage of far better people than me.

Not before bed but I do a daily rosary with my daughter and we do family ones on the weekend.

I was a Cradle, but I fell away. I am working my way back Home, so maybe I will end up being both

I know many cradle reverts who are much stronger in their faith because of their journey.

Someone on this board, years ago, lost their mind when I responded "revert." Don't remember who, but it was kind of funny. Anyway I'm a revert.

Cradle Catholic but my family "left the Church" when I was young so my exposure was mostly through my Catholic grandparents (the grandma I have mentioned who would have a bottle of beer in one hand and her rosary in the other). Came back to the Church in my late teens, thanks to my guardian angel nun (who wil be celebrating her 75th (Jubilee) year as a religious in 2016. Been here ever since. So a Cradle Convert.
