Not the point. Not what I said. Did Jesus in specific mention "believer's baptism?" Yes or no?
Mark 16:16 "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned."
Revelations 22:You are making the point that the word "Purgatory" is not in the Bible. Therefore, to follow this line of argument, you are saying that only the words that are in the Bible or are spoken by Jesus can be true.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Deuteronomy 4:2 "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."
Galatians 1:
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—
7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!
Jesus was baptized. Which means what? That could just as easily mean that we should baptize our infant children. It is an argument without a point.
Matthew 3:
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
The Baptism of Christ had meaning. Bathing your baby does not. Babies do not have free will. They cannot accept the death and resurrection of Christ.
Ecclesiastes 9:Since we know that Jesus was a law-keeping Jew, our holy Lord, then we know that He did and kept all the Jewish practices, one of which was to pray for the dead.
9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
9:6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
9:7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
There is no indication that Jesus ever prayed for the dead. When He prayed, He prayed directly to the Father.
