Let me throw the question back to you before I answer. If the 99 year old is a believer would you support keeping him artificially alive, or would you unplug the machine that appears to be keeping him alive, but in reality, is only keeping his heart beating so that blood continues to flow to vital organs, which is preventing His spirit from leaving his physical body to be present with the Lord?

How about this, have faith, unplug the machine, and if he begins to breathe on his own then it is not his appointed time to die. .

The problem is that the scenario here is no different from the scenario of Terri Schiavo. Her husband Michael Schiavo pulled the life support from her in the same manner that you are describing. The fact that her body was too weak to survive does not mean that Michael Schiavo did the right thing. In fact he did the exactly wrong thing. Similarly, would it be right to pull life support from a premature baby? If we use that same logic we would pull the plug based on the assumption the baby will survive if he/or she is meant to survive. But of course that would be taking a big risk.

But pulling the plug on an elderly patient would be just as wrong. In fact it would be act of euthanasia (something that Conservative Christians have traditionally been opposed to...at least until around 2017). The fact that a few Christians are starting to embrace this idea of death as a good thing is an extremely dangerous trend

I think one point we can agree on is this- it is not embracing death to rejoice that a dead loved one is now with Christ. But we are not celebrating death... we are celebrating that the loved one ESCAPED DEATH (through Christ) and is now in Heaven. The loved one DIDNT REALLY die. and we can rejoice over that fact.

Again there is a dual track...Christ conquered Death in the spiritual realm...but there is still work to do when it comes to conquering Death in the physical realm (Matthew 6:10) The Bible says that Death is the "Last Enemy" ...but God's Will dictates that it will be eventually defeated. As Isaiah assures us, we will start living longer, we will eventually defeat death, and we will even start PHYSICALLY resurrecting the dead (here on earth)

So we absolutely can have faith that our departed loved ones are with Christ and that we will see them again...Again, we have faith that they DIDNT REALLY die. and we can rejoice over that fact.

But that is not the same thing as saying- lets disconnect an elderly man from life support so he can be with the Lord. I suspect that is the exact opposite of what Christ would want. Christians should be fighting for life.... and fighting against death (both physical death and spiritual death). Christ raised the dead PHYSICALLY....He healed the sick PHYSICALLY...He wasnt content to let people die. And Christians have traditionally followed in His footsteps.

If Christians start to embrace Death they will be making a huge huge mistake...because Death is one of God's enemies...As it notes in 1st Corinthians 15:25- "For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death."

And if Death is God's enemy it should be our enemy too...that seems self-evident to me

Right now the topic of "Christian Nationalism" is a hot topic...and part of that debate involves the topic of Transhumanism (since several of the movers and shakers in the Christian Nationalist movement are Christian Transhumanists...Peter Thiel and Blake Masters to name just a couple). If anyone is interested in this topic, please check out this Youtube debate, which highlights the differences between Christian Transhumanism and Satanist Transhumanism...and also discusses the emerging Christian Nationalist movement and its connections to Transhumanism.

I don’t trust it. Watch this.
