Except this was a transmutation of water into something else. That could have been anything.

If it had been actually harvested from grapes and allowed to sit for any time, I would agree with you. But this was not that situation.
but to suppose that simply for that reason ( even if true) Christians should not drink is not really viable.

Selling alcohol is fine because drinking is not a sin. Drunkenness is a sin so technically it could be argued you're causing someone to stumble by selling them alcohol when you know they've had too much, but generally speaking I don't see anything inherently wrong with a Christian owning a bar.
In many cases, it is actually illegal to sell to or serve someone who has clearly had too much. Although, many times that is not enforced else we would not have near as many drunks on the weekends.

Too much is a subjective term, though. Too much to the Christian should mean anywhere close to drunkenness because that's the line whereas others the line will be so that they can actually still stand or somewhere close.

Usually, the LAW defines the line as either .008 BAC or when you are too impaired to drive safety for driving and everything else is just sort of a judgement call by the person serving.

Ok so what's your opinion on this. If a Christian can't own a restaurant/bar. Due to the fact that there are ppl struggling with being alcoholics ect..... Then why is it Right for a Christian to own a restaurant of ANY sort? because there are many ppl struggling with being obese....
So the Bible is telling us to be sober and you are giving opportunities to make people NOT sober. It's just plain wrong.
So if you owe a grocery store you are giving someone the opportunity to commit gluttony.
I have no problem with it and in fact drank the day I turned legal and a few times since.
And here I was under the impression that you were only 18 turning 19. I need to read more carefully.

Due to the fact that I would be supporting something that is frowned upon. As a Christian it's frowned upon to have a couple drinks every now and then. Or even any at all.

No, that just hold for some evangelicals/fundamentalist. There is nothing wrong with a drink in moderation.

There is a difference between being saved and serving God. I would not want to do anything to harm people. So I would not want to sell alcohol or cigarettes and so on. I had one pastor that did not see anything wrong with that. He said that in his Bible school there were people working in convince stores while they were going to Bible college. For me, my own personal conviction is that I do not want to profit off of harming others. I want to do something to help people, not harm them.

Just about every business on the planet does us harm. Very VERY few don't, and even fewer are actually in our best interests.

Does this mean you must refrain from owning a business, or working in 99% of businesses?

18 is the legal drinking age in many places :)
The drinking age in all of the US is 21 and that is where she lives.
However, I know you are correct. Most everywhere in the world the drinking age is 18. :)

I don't know about Texas, but there are churches out there that restrict membership to those that pledge not to drink/teetotal as part of it. I was raised in such a denomination. My in-laws won't even eat food that has had alcohol put in it in any fashion (but extracts are okay). Bringing a rum cake to one of my husband's family gatherings back when we were first married was one of the most awkward experiences ever (nobody even tried it- and they were horrified that I would tempt the grandchildren with alcohol). My parents go to a church where people don't drink, but have extensive liquor cabinets solely for cooking purposes. Drinking is a huge no-no to a lot of Evangelical types of folks- and I live in bourbon country. You should have seen the rigmarole a member of my parent's First Baptist caused when he opened the first liquor store in their county after they finally voted to not be a dry county anymore. You would have thought it was an abortion clinic the way some carried on.
Bourbon county was dry? How is that even possible?

I said country, not county. Bourbon county itself is a wet county. Every county on the Bourbon Trail is wet. I don't live in a dry county but, until very recently, my parent's county (which borders mine) was dry. Kentucky still has some dry counties around. No lie, two of my great-uncles were competing bootleggers back in the day.

ETA: Now, this is something I recommend doing, going to visit all of the distilleries.

First of all, there is sin in everything, considering that there is sin in people, meaning sin nature, that's there even when we are saved through faith and Grace (1 John 1:8). I mean people are the crown of creation, and just as Jesus said, if master of the house is called Beelzebub, how much more are the dwellers of it. So, there is naturally an error or sin everywhere, it is an inescapable fact. It's like quitting your job as a manager because you have to sometimes fire people who have families. I am not saying it is ok to do that, all I am saying that it is all down to how the person deals with the guilt of it. The problem with modern Christianity, and naturally your own perception in regard to the matter, dear Ceasar montelongo, is that sin is viewed as something objective, external, while in reality it's not, but a sin to someone may not be a sin to someone else. In other words sin is only "guilt", i.e. a subjective experience, depending on whether God decides to give the person guilt about an action or not. Same action in one person may not cause guilt while in another person will: "One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind", "I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean". Not that guilt is sin, but that guilt becomes sin if not removed quickly enough: "Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death". Of course you are free to question, doubt and even reject this, but in the end, you will find out that this is truth: "As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God".

So, if the person is able to keep his conscience clear, why judge him/her? If God is at peace with the person, why judge him/her? Would it not be unrighteous, an calling of the person an evil-doer when God does not condemn the person, since God only condemns the person in the following case: "Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God", "If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything".

And the person can certainly keep his/her conscience clear despite of anything that life throws his/her way, because Christ knows how hard it is to live in the world, so He helped man to be not of the world as he/she lives in the world. He did so by giving ways to do so, knowing that sometimes it is just too much. Only hypocrites tell people it is wrong and not give a way to bear the burden, and God is not a hypocrite: "They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them".

For example, Christ said: do not judge and you shall not be judged. But the thing is, we can apply this to our own selves, we can avoid judging ourselves for sins too, just as we do it to others! Why? Because it's written: do to the other as to self, love the neighbor as yourself, meaning just as you treat yourself, do treat others, and the other way around.

Blind post:

If you yourself feel uncomfortable owning a restaurant that sells alcohol, then don't do it.

There's nothing stopping someone from doing so just because they are a Christian, though. Some Christians frown upon drinking alcohol (in varying degrees), others have no problem with it in proper moderation.

I have sporadically snuck up on my dad's beer when I was kid, well below the legal age. I hate wine and hard drinks though.

Dads should keep their glass of beer out of reach of children!
