Good Monday morning!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
Ours was cold and fast paced. Then never seem to be long enough.
Shopping, cooking, company and work for my hubby. I'm glad that today it is just me at home. Gives me a few hours of peace and time to get some real work done.
I even put pork in the slowcooker for pulled pork tonight.
Now it's off to change sheets and fold some laundry.
Have a great day and I'll stop in later.

Wow, where is everyone?

The weekend get-together/early Christmas with my family went well enough; I'm glad it's over. I had scheduled to be off today, as well, to get some R+R ... but I swapped for Thursday, when I have to take my mother to the hospital (she's going to have a skin cancer surgically removed). So, I'm back at work today.

I have a Finance Ministry Team meeting tonight; I'm hoping it won't run too long, so I can get some more presents wrapped. I need to get them all wrapped before the grandkids come over on Saturday. Plus I'm running out of time to get my angel tree gifts to church.

Take care, everyone, and have a terrific Tuesday.
Blessings!
Kathy

Don't know about everyone, but I am so busy at work, that I am praying thru my day.
Just made myself a cup of coffee and settled for some computer work at the office.
Kathy, you reminded me of those days when my brother and I had to take my father to doctors. He is in mansions in Heaven now.
Somehow I am growing in my dislike to wrapping presents. I understand when you do that for the children. But for the adults, now I use a nice box and a very nice ribbon. They have nice gift bags and all sort of things. But I do have to wrap presents for people at work.
Hubby and my son put the one tree on the porch and one inside the house. We get 2 trees. I have to finish decorating, since this Friday is a church Christmas party at my house.

NJ, you are making a pulled pork? I never made one. Is it like potted pork?
Be well, everyone,
Daina

Excellent idea, Diana, on wrapping gifts. I too dislike wrapping presents. I used to spend SO much time selecting gift wrap that I liked, that seemed to "fit" the recipient, etc. And it goes essentially unnoticed. Plus, I just dislike the time and effort involved in wrapping gifts. :D I believe I'll use up the gift wrap I have left this Christmas and start stocking up on gift boxes (the kinds that are colorful, not those plain white boxes). And gift bags, too.

We had a long Finance team meeting last night. We just concluded the fundraising part of a capital campaign. Our meeting with the elders about the future plans didn't go quite as well as I had hoped. The pledges weren't enough to fund as much additional building as we were hoping, so of course now we are working on trying to come up with as much building as we can based on the pledges. My DH is chair of the Finance team and the Master Planning (aka Expansion) team, so it will be an interesting time in our household.

Something brought up during the planning portion of our meeting last night that frankly kinda surprised me is that many visitors have chosen not to worship with us because they don't want to worship in a "gym" (actually, it's a multi-purpose room, with carpet, but there are a couple of mobile basketball hoops tucked over into a corner). I guess I just don't understand ... when I'm in worship on Sunday morning, I'm not concerned about my surroundings ... my focus in on God. But while I'm not alone, I must certainly be in a minority.

I'm almost out of time now ... must get my lunch packed up and out the door for work soon. Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone.

Blessings!
Kathy

Ok, I want to know how y'all got the "people" and fancy colors/fonts, etc. with your names. I am beginning to think that it's time to "dress up" here at CF. I'm not normally too computer illiterate, but I sure can't seem to find the things that would allow me to "spice up" my posts. ;) Help, anyone? TIA!!

Blessings!
Kathy

(P.S. Stay safe, Theresa. We got a little freezing rain/snow/sleet/slush this morning, but the main roads seem to be pretty clear so driving isn't a problem here.)

Hi, Kathy,
It is always interesting when church affairs are discussed at home.
About worshipping in other than traditional church environment...Years ago we were a part of a church in the house. Church services were held in 3 different home and ours was one them. I must say, I had to get used to it, since I came from a very traditional background. But I liked it. You hear the Word (hopefully good preaching), fellowship time was very good. But for some, environment is important. That is why traditional churches pay so much attention to stained glass windows, paintings, dimmed lights - to create a worshipful atmosphere. But, ultimately, the heart can worship it's Creator even when walking the streets of Manhattan.
Have a blessed Wednesday,
Diana

Kewl Kathy~~does your character resemble you?
I wear my hair the same~~~

I'd like to think that it does. I have short dirty blonde hair and am always in casual clothes like my character (and as an accountant, I've always got my trusty calculator :D ).

Yes, I love being an accountant. To me, when things don't balance, it's rather like a puzzle or a mystery to find the source of the out-of-balance situation. My personality is one where I prefer black and white, clear-cut situations ... perfect for being an accountant. :D I work at the University here, where the dress code is very, very casual. I usually wear a casual shirt/top, jeans and tennies. I might not get paid as much as I might elsewhere, but there are benefits working here that I can't get elsewhere (dress code, liberal vacation/sick leave, 10 days of paid leave over the Christmas holidays, etc. -- plus my office is just 6-7 minutes from home).

Wow, you work in a day care? I'm not sure I could do that ... I'm physically and mentally exhausted at the end of a day with my granddaughter; I can't imagine that feeling every day. Still, the reward of seeing her smile, seeing her reach for me, etc. fills my heart like nothing else does.

Blessings!

Good Friday morning, all.

I'm still absolutely exhausted from yesterday. I took my parents to the hospital to have a bump removed from my mother's nose. We were at the hospital for over 6 hours, and the drive to my parents' house and then back to my house added another 2 1/2 hours to the day. The diagnosis was basal cell cancer; the surgeon got it all, so at least there was some good news. The bad news is that when they did the pre-op chest x-ray, they found a spot on her right lung. We're hoping that it's "just" pneumonia, but given that she has COPD, pneumonia is very dangerous. My two sisters live 4+ hours away (one near Chicago and one in Austin), so the care of my parents, now that their health is failing, is my responsibility. :help: I'm sure I don't have to mention it, but your prayers would certainly be appreciated. Thanks all.

Blessings!
Kathy

Kathy, I understand your situation. Now that my Father is gone, I cherish the memories of all those hospital visits, doctor visits, etc. Both my brother and I took care of my father and my brother lived next doot to him, which was very good. I did it gladly and even enjoyed that time that we spent together and sharing a cup of hospital coffee in his room. And my brother was famous for spending nights in my father's room. At the time I do not know how we did it. Besides, my father-in-law was in ill health and same was for my husband. My sisters in-law also live far away, one in California and the other one in RI. But God provides abundantly whatever is needed at the moment.
Be well,
Diana

Good morning, all.

It's Saturday -- my day to spend with my grandkids. To quote MLB, I live for this! ;)

I've got a pot of ham and bean soup started (using up the last of the ham from my family get-together last weekend). Tomorrow is our anniversary (#18); I can't decide if we should go out for dinner tonight or tomorrow. I have ordered the last Christmas gift (I hope it's not a duplicate); all I have left to do is to get a few stocking stuffers. It just doesn't seem possible that Christmas is just a week away (we haven't watched "It's a Wonderful Life" yet ... better get on that right away).

I guess I'd better get up and get ready for the grandkids.

Blessings!
Kathy
