Scooter, how's Don?
Roads are not good here either. I'm just gonna put this here. Don has cellulitis is his leg. The doctor came in this morning, ordered bunches of tests and blood work. The test are heart and to check for blockage in leg.
Prayers would be appreciated.

Also, my boys and I are grating on each other. I'd so like to go to sleep and wake up when they're men. Teenager aren't my thing, I guess.
Did his tests come back? I know that at times it takes few days to get results. Waiting is the hardest.
Boys could be stressed due to their father's illness.
Take care,
Diana

Good morning fellow Nesters. It is 15º here now, it should warm up some as the sun is shinning brightly. Hope you all have a wonderful day. I have to go get brakes and tires on my car today, but I get to have lunch with my husband so that will be fun. Have a great day and hopefully I will be able to pop in later today.

Hello, new friends! We live in California's "high desert" -- extreme heat in the summer and cold in the winter. Last winter it didn't snow, but many days between 30 and 60 F with a hard wind. Wind?!? If you cried, an icicle formed; horizontal to the ground like that, it looked like you'd been stabbed in the eye with a white pick.

Welcome Constance. It's so nice to meet you.
Boy it sounds like you have the weather extremes where you live.
That is the way fall was here for us this year. Day time in the upper 70's and nights in the low 40's or 30's.
Have a great day.

Good morning. I'm looking for a place to land; been reading past posts and thought this might be a good place to "settle in". Might I join you?

Welcome Trey!
You will our little Nest is full of very sweet people.
It looks like winter has really settled in. It won't be long before we are looking at seed catalogs and wanting the warm weather so we can plant.
Have a great day.
Take care

Good afternoon everyone. Hope you are all having a good day.
It's cold here today. But the sun is shining brightly.

What better way to warm up on a cold winters day than hot chocolate and cookies.

I will stop back later to see how the day is going.
Take care

I saw him Monday morning. He was having less foot pain, so the antibiotics were helping. Nate ran by this afternoon and said he was listening to a concert in the main lounge.
Apparently the tests aren't emergency because they're not being scheduled as such. He just called me, was tired, but in good spirits. He is still having pain in his foot, tho'. Gosh, I wish I could drive to pop in on him daily.

Hi scootermom, I am happy to see that your hubby is doing better. I wish I lived close and could take you to visit him. Praying that you and your boys are doing better and everything is settling down for you. :groupray:

Scootermom I am glad to hear that the antbiotics are helping and that the pain seems to be easing up a bit.
I will continue to pray for healing and for strength for you and the boys.
Have a good day.
God Bless

Scootermom, I'm glad to hear that your DH is doing better. My DH had a bout with cellulitis in his leg several years back. I'll pray that the antibiotics continue to bring healing.

Our shopping yesterday went well. We found all the gifts on our list -- at really, really good prices. ;) We got back to DD's house at 3:30, and the other grandma (DSIL's mom) still hadn't put down the 3 y.o. for his nap. DD wasn't very pleased, needless to say.

It's not quite as cold today (although it's going to drop down to single digits again tonight/tomorrow morning), but we're going to get 2-4" of snow. I love snow ... and since I'm off work today, I don't have to worry about having to get out in the snow.

My plans for the day include working on the November financial report for church (I'm the treasurer), getting a head start on cleaning/cooking for my family's Christmas this weekend (the big meal and gift exchange will be at our house on Saturday), getting in some cross-stitching, and watching the hockey game tonight.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Thursday!
Blessings!
Kathy

Kathy,
You are having your family Christmas get-together this weekend? That is nice. And you have a 3-year old grandson, who did not get his nap!
It looks like we also celebrate Christmas in stages. There's before Christmas church party (at our house), Christmas day with family and friends and 2 days after Christmas for the family when my sister-in-law and her children come for a visit from Rhode Island. And tonight I am going with my brother, the Gideon, to Gideon's christmas party at the prison. We have to find a bakery on the way to buy some cookies/cake.
Kathy, what cross-stitching do you do?
I just finished a needlepoint, it is at the framer now. Hope they will get it done by Christmas.
Be well, 'Diana

Diana, I'm working on a Thomas Kinkade scene. Lamplight Bridge. This is the 5th Thomas Kinkade I've stitched. I haven't kept a single one; I've framed them and offered them to the women's group at church for their annual fundraising auction. I do my own framing; I had a couple of pieces professionally framed, and they didn't do any better than I did. I do go to the framers to have custom made frames (since 99.9% of the projects I stitch up won't fit into standard sized frames :sigh: ).

My sisters both live out of the area, so it's easier for them to get into the area a week or two before Christmas. Especially for my DD & her family (she has Christmas with us, with her in-laws, with her dad, as well as their own family Christmas), so we have family get-togethers at Christmas on days other than Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

DD dropped off my granddaughter this morning on her way to MOPS. DGD was a premie and has continued to be quite a high-maintenance baby (not to mention she got her Daddy's temper); she didn't get a good night's sleep, so Mama thought that she'd spare the childcare workers at MOPS the struggle with a strong-willed, hot-tempered, crabby 18-month old. :D

The snow has started to fall and is beginning to cover everything. It's beautiful.

Well, I'm going to go play with DGD. Have a blessed Thursday.
Blessings!
Kathy

Good morning all. It sounds like everyone is busy with Christmas preparations and such. I have to get two christmas stockings done for grandsons and cannot seem to find the time. I did get everything out to do it, now I just need to go and get it done.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

I share Don's taste. Plus, I like old hymns.
I slowly made it to work - in Manhattan. It's snowing, large heavy snowflakes cover everything with white. There is so much purity in the white snow. No wonder the Bible refers the forgiven sinner to white snow.
Last night I went with my brother, the Gideon to Juvenile Detention Center for a Christmas party, where Gideons distributed the Bibles. Most of the young men accepted Christ at the invitation. One young lady was brought in handcuffed. She also prayed for salvation. It was amazing.
Be well,
Diana

Awesome, Diana!

Snow here, with bitterly cold temperatures. I'm still off work, so thankfully I don't have to get out in the cold. I had planned to clean house in anticipation of my family Christmas tomorrow, but my dad's health is bad, so we'll spare him the drive and all gather at my parents' house. I still need to do some cleaning and preparing some food.

Have a fabulous Friday!
Blessings!

Snow day here today for the children.
My daughters have been out playing in the snow already. When I look out at that white blanket it looks so beautiful. Fresh snow always reminds me of Christmas cards with the snow and the peacefulness.

I wish that I could needlepoint. When I was young my great-grandma tried to teach me, but I was interested then. Now I wish I had paid more attention. I can sew and I use to love to crochet.

We will be celebrating Christmas in shifts this year too. My son and DL and grandson will be away for Christmas with her family. Her paternal grandma and aunt are in the best of health and Vicki wants to spend the holiday with them. I can understand that, so we will exchange presents after New Years with them. Our older daughter will be with us for Christmas eve and stay over for Christmas morning.
I hope you all have a great day today. Enjoy the snow, but be safe if you have to drive in it.
Take care and God Bless

What a wonderful ministry! I think that taking God's word to the kids is a great thing. Most of those kids feel that they have been forgotten because they have done something wrong. It is such a great thing to teach them that they can and will be forgiven.

That is SO cool, Diana!

It's cold here, so the snow is still blanketing everything; it's so Currier and Ives-ish. Beautiful. The main roads seem to be pretty clean, although the street we live on has been plowed, but it is not clean. NJsister, I suspect you're getting the storm that passed through here yesterday. It was a beautiful snow. Our schools didn't close yesterday or today (although many in the greater area did). I was hoping that they'd close the University today so I could save the vacation day today, but I'm not surprised that they didn't, so .....

I'm going to go have lunch with DD today; when I get back I'll finish cleaning up for the weekend and get started on some cooking for the weekend (trying to cook as much as possible ahead of time.

I'll check back in later.
